4L Lexus 1UZ DOHC V8
twin Garrett GT35R's
2-speed 'Glide
8'' Neal Chance 7500rpm converter

we installed some new ID2000 injectors and hit the dyno, car has made around 900rwhp with the old injectors, made a touch more with the ID2000 apart from showing extra power it made tuning a hell of alot easier and the car down low now is a treat to drive on the street. she was tuned on pump E85 and made a peak of 933rwhp@30-31psi.

the first attempt didn't go to well, Hoosier radial street tyres, are a no-no on the dyno, couldn't get traction

x275 has made it to Australia and this is the class we want to race the car in, so that meant a switch over to a radial 275 and adding weight into the car to weigh 3200lbs. so we had to put the car in full street trim which meant running the full exhaust system with 2 cats. so we didn't know what to expect, plus never racing a car on a radial tyre we never knew what to expect. so we drove the car to the track (she is a street car ) we had limited testing opportunites, we only got 3 passes, so we had to make the most of it. the car hooked up well on all 3 passes and we walked away pretty happy, she had run

still a few small issues with tune, converter and a couple other little things but we are confident we can knock her into the 30's and possibly even 20's.

thanks, yeah she is leaving nice n smooth now and running very straight. it ran pretty smooth before, but with the extra weight and radial its seems to like it better.

 

thanks, surprisingly not much needs to be done.

we have just cleaned up the heads, changed valve springs, rods, pistons, cams, ARP head studs, everything else is factory. even runs the factory lower manifold, with the custom plenum on it. they are a very good little motor, cheap to mod and very durable.

we do love the small cars, makes for a more fun drive.

hopefully won't need to wait too much longer, should be at the fabricators next week. if no problems should see early-mid June tuning.

we took the Capri out tonight for a little Wednesday night fun and some final testing and checks for the APSA Pro Street Shootout. back on the radials, being a Wednesday night we aren't allowed to run faster than 9.0 so we were only doing half track testing, wanted to get the tune right down low. we weren't expecting much from the track, being a Wednesday night it's not usually prepped.

1st pass: she knocked out a 1.389 60' and 130mph to 1/2 track, we were definitely not expecting that good a 60' but we were gonna take it.

2nd pass: 60' a 1.26 and 128mph, happy with the 60' not so much the 1/2 track.

3rd pass: wasted pass. it blazed the tyres off the line, 1.46 60' didn't bother staying in it, data would have been useless. left the tune as it was.

4th (last) pass: we spoke to a track official and asked if we could do a full pass, he gave the ok. track had a bit of heat in it and it was nice cool air, staged the car nicely, came out of the hole sweet and a 1.33 60', best 60' on a radial by 3/100ths, car sounded strong, ran 131mph to 1/2 track, won't say what she ran, watch the video

Joe was on fire with his lights tonight, cut like a .040, .018 and a .014 on the full tree and a .140 on the Pro Tree

we are now 7 passes in on a radial tyre, we are extremely happy with the progress, the car seems to love the extra weight and the radial tyres, hopefully we can continue to improve.

 

took the car out last weekend, we are starting to really get a handle on the 275 tyre, i think it's time we start to push it a little harder, averaged 60's between 1.33-1.36 not the best but consistent. car ran like a dream first 4 passes 8.41, 8.40, 8.40 & 8.38 we got into a little bit of a staging duel with a NOS guy weather was perfect that pass and the pass after but we cooked the trans oil, ran a 8.69 on the burndown pass, went back out about 45mins later after cooled the oil down, no damage to the box or converter fortunately, she ran a 8.48 so overall very happy with it. some video of the passes

we found the Mickey Thompson's better. we have always run M/T we gave the Hoosier a go for a Street Car Shootout it just didn't last as long or hookup like the M/T's.
