    Hey all

The car has been in the family for 15 years or so. The last setup was a 406sbc with twin 6164s using the wrenchrat turbo kit. This was carbed and on e85. I'm leaning towards driveability and something that gets much better gas mileage ( it's not important but it sounds good)

So here is what I do have...

    2001 5.3(188k miles)
    Regapped the rings for boost
    Polished the crank
    Acl coated main bearings
    Stock rods and pistons
Arp 8740 rod bolts (only one needed resized)
    New clevite rod bearings
    Ls9 headgaskets
    Ebay head studs
    317 heads(buying a set of 243s from a buddy)
    Comp cam-231/239, .617/.624 on a 113
    Ls7 lifters
    Dual valve springs.
    Stock truck intake.
    Holley 302-2 pan.
Converted the motor to a gen4 ( side of block knock sensors, ls2 front cover and 1x cam gear)

The motor should be in the car in the next few weeks. Reusing the th400 with transbrake and cheap 4k stall ( we will see how it does). Car has a 12 bolt with 3.08s in it now, will be changing for 3.42s or 3.55s.

What I still need to buy...
Turbo-will be using vs racings pt88 knockoff.
    Hotside
Cheap intercooler/wastegate/bov (most likely vs racing)
Fuel system- currently have ricks sumped tank with dual 10 an outlets. 10 an feed/return and vent. I was running a prostar 500. Most likely will run dual 340s.
Psi harness. I want to switch to dbw

That's pretty much where we stand. After I get it running I will swap to a jakes performance 4l80 and triple disc converter. Im running this setup in my zl1 and love it!

Thoughts and opinions are always welcomed!

Got the heads on and truck pan on just for mockup. Will be installing motor tomorrow and putting front accessories on. Ordered(2) 2.25 vband assemblys
Along with a squeeze performance 50mm bov.
My buddy is letting me have his stock g8 manifolds to use. I have a t4 flange already. Just need to order a wastegate, turbo, and 2.25 piping

Decided to use a holley high ram instead of the stock intake. I have a 4 inch cowl hood so it should clear fine. Many more pics to come

So why the pt88? A 75-76mm will make plenty enough to kill the gen 3 rods, and I would think suit your goals better.

The 5.3 will only stay as long as it lives. I will put a larger motor in it when this pops.

Motor is in the car and g8 manifolds are on. They will work out nicely

Here is the motor in the car. G8 manifolds fit really well. I will have to relocate the coils though. No big deal.

V bands are welded on. A buddy cleaned them up in a mill for me. Turned out great. Thinking about having the hotside coated

I have a 72 also. Mine has a 434 sb right now, but later I'd like to do the same thing. Would the truck manifolds fit? I'll be watching this build to see what I'm going to run intoi.

They will absolutely fit. They fit pretty well as a matter of fact.

I am still alive and so is this project lol. haven't updated in a while but the car has been on the back burner as I've been playing with my zl1!!!

anyways, I've decided to use amy on3 7875 instead and I picked up a 4l80 this week. undecided if I'm going to put it in first or not. going to be using a ls2 intake and a stock ls3 tb I have laying around. still have a lot to be done so it may be a while between updates

build is still alive! ended up picking up a 6.0 for it. progress has been slow. haven't had the motivation to finish it since I've bought some other toys. I'll try to get back into updating the thread!
