408 TT street car build, w/vids

Let me run you through the car as it sits right now.1989 Mustang GT, fully repainted with a cobra body kit and 04 cobra wheels. Engine is a stock 74 block with a scat Competition rotating assembly 0 oz balanced, ARP 2000 Rod bolts and Diamond 36cc dished pistons, supposedly good for 1200+, and a custom cam from FTI. The block is only good for 800ish, some people run 900+. Compression should be around 8:1. Trans is a TKO 600 that had all gears and shafts cryo-treated and all the updates from Promotion power train with their shift finger and shifter. Spec stage 3+ clutch, 26 spline. Everything controlled by megasquirt still running MS1 extra. 31 spline Moser axles with a pro diff from Strange. Everything is stopped by 99 cobra brakes This combo has been running for about 6 years ( megasquirt only for 2 and rear end for 1 ) and all the little things I've done to the car I don't have enough time to list. N/A it's put down 440 RWHP and 465 RWHP and ran the best of 11.3 @ 122 last year at the Rob Palmer shootout we have here in Iowa every year. Now, the car was obviously built for boost but I could never afford it. So I am selling my beautiful 1986 SVO with 25k miles, single owner car to fund this project. I won't be getting a newer car this year..or probably next. Anywho I'm making sacrifices to make this happen, it's been an 11 year dream with the car and I'm finally doing it. The setup will be a twin turbo hotside fabbed up by Pony Down, twin 66mm turbos, and I'm going to try and fab up the cold side myself. The fuel system is using a magnafuel 525 prostar pump, magnafuel regulator and filters. Aeromotive rails and Jegs 350 soft AN line. -10 feed and -8 return.Which right now I got some parts in the mail.Currently I'm making my crank case breathing system bigger. I only had 3/8's elbows on the back of the valve covers running through the fender and into a catch can. Now I'm having 90* -10 elbow's welded in to the back of the VC's.The filler neck has always leaked at the gromet, so I chopped off the nipple and that will be tig welded solid. Here are pics.

    More parts!

-8, -10, -12 lines and AN fittings for the end of the rails. I'll order the rest after mockup.

Also additional fuel pump brace since the thing weighs damn near 9 lbs.

    More goodies!.

Got my MS3 daughterboard with new case. Can't wait to start tuning with it!

I had an ok propane soldering iron for basic 14-20 gauge wiring, but it was too hot for circuit board stuff. Bought a nice little weller with spare tips for the megasquirt mods.

Then my old fuel level sensor was going whacky, so I picked a new one up from 50resto.

I don't have much more coming at this point, getting tapped out until I sell the SVO or get my taxes back. I need my valve covers back, got AN elbows tig'd for my bigger catch can setup. Then mock up the fuel system and order fittings, Then slap together the MS3 setup and I should be good to run N/A until the turbo stuff comes in.

Oh, and the dude making my hotside is not responding so I'm going with BG Turbo systems. Brian over there is a great guy.

Got a little bit done this weekend. Got my new tank coated with bedliner, cut my tank rock guard for the sump and repainted it along with the tank straps. I just have to paint the underside of the mustang where the tank goes and I can start mounting up my fuel system.

I better see if my tank is still under my car? What size fittings?

Brian is cool to talk to but the wait times are bad. What kind of time did he quote you?

Brian said about 3 months. Not great, but I wont have any money to move forward for a few months either. Gonna rock it N/A for awhile

Just got my valve covers back. They now have -10 90* fittings tig welded on the back for my catch can and the filler neck is tigged from underneath, since it always leaked. Painted em up and polished the raised lettering real quick. Also coated the back underside of the mustang and pulled the megasquirt out to install the MS3 in it.

Thanks to Scott at Nightmare Motorsports for the tig work!

Got my megasquirt out of the car. Modded the current board to accept the MS3 daughterboard. Slapped it in the new case and voila.

I'm going to hook it up to a stim this weekend to check operation, but all I had to do was add a jumper and bolt the two boards together and assemble the new case. MS3 gives me better fuel control, faster processor and 16x16 fuel/timing cells instead of 12x12. Plus a massive amount of add ons if I want it and ability to datalog using an SD card.

Very cool. I'm interested to see how that MS3 works out for you. I have the same MS1 and was just planning on buying a completely new MS3 when it came time to upgrade, but if all I have to do is buy the daughter board to have equal capabilities, then that sounds like it might be the way to go.

If you have a 3.0 board without any other mods from J0-j11. You just add a jumper between J9 and s12c, remove the Ms1 chip, push on the new board and screw it into place. About $250 for the daughter board and case. Of course check the megasquirt boards to verify what I said.
