Finally starting a thread on here after years of free info mining. This site is great and I couldn't have built my first combo without everyone sharing info here so thanks!

Previously 10.5:1 383 80mm GT45. Ran great, but was pushing my luck with 8-9psi with pump gas on a 2 bolt main block. Probably made close to 600fwhp but never had it dyno'd or tuned (original engine made 450NA).

Got a crazy deal on some parts from my builder:

Motown 400 block (I don't know if they all do, but this one has 1/2" main bolts!)
Forged JE pistons (now compression is 9.6:1)
    Scat 4340 H-beam rods
    Callies Racing forged crank

    I’m re-using from my 383:
Dart 2 iron heads light porting
Custom grind cam from Comp (Duration@ .050 of 230 230 with valve lift of .522 .522 on a 112 LSA plus 1.6 Roller Rockers (solid flat tappet)
    Performer RPM intake.
    C&S specialties Aeresol carb (I think it’s a 830cfm but don’t remember it was 2 yrs ago)
Dual Walbro 255 in tank with -10/-10.
MSD digital 6AL (6530 programmable grid)
    Precision PW46 wastegate
    Tial 50mm BOV
    3" Core Intercooler
    Tremec TKO trans
somewhat “built” stock 7.5” 10 bolt I’m sure first thing to go after sticky tires. 373 gears, Richmond gears, SLP lockup, Rear girdle, welded axle tubes.
3.5" homemade Downpipe running to electric cutout and tied back into 3" cat-back to keep quiet. Ilove flying under the radar!

I’m currently remaking hotside. Getting rid of old homemade log frankenmanifold that leak, smelled, and caused a lazy spool. Bought forward facing SS headers from CX racing. Making merge pipe with 2.5” 304 16 stainless from Columbia River Mandrel Bending (Great company!)

New motor Made 450 with crap 650 carb he had laying around (I never left him my carb). He said probably another 40hp with the correct carb. I should safely be able to push 12-14 PSI on pump gas so who knows what it will make or what will be streetable.

Stainless CX racing forward headers (I was hesitant but these look really nice). Great welds, very smooth inside

These thirdgen builds are really coming out of the woodwork now.

Got any photos of the log manifold by chance? I'm sort of curious as to what about it being a log manifold made it leak, smell and cause lazy spool.

Good luck with the build, I'm looking forward to seeing this progress.

Nothing inherently wrong with a log manifold design, it was my first go at making headers from scratch (and welding for that matter). I should have taken it to real welder who could get access to all the small buried nooks and seams. It was my piss poor welding that made it leak. It helps if you have the polarity of your new welder set correctly. I was dumb and didn't ask for help. I learned my lesson

Live and learn right. I made the mistake of mounting my turbo under my truck.

    Update: 3/25
I finished tacking up merge pipe, wastegate, and downpipe. Took everything to local rod shop and got everything welded up.. Just got it all back. Wrapped most of hot side with DEI titanium wrap, more should be here tomorrow with a few remaining A/N fittings I'm waiting for to modify fuel lines after regulator(new forward headers were now touching fuel lines)

I had to remake my turbo bracket because pipes tweaked a little during welding process. I knew I should have waited.
new 400 block was modified for external oil filter so I had to mount bracket/ make lines- Done
installed new McLeod RXT clutch and installed motor/trans into car

    All that's left:
    finish wrapping hot side/install
modify charge pipe from compressor to intercooler (have it pretty close already)
Make oil drain line from turbo to block
    install alternator
modify radiator hoses to clear new headers.

Should be able to start and drive pretty soon. I did pick up an AEM Tru-boost controller but seing I have to break in the new McLeod Clutch and new engine, I'm not in a hurry to crank the boost. Probably just throw in the 5psi spring and get the bugs out and get a few miles on it. (5psi on top of over 450NA still is damn near 600fwhp)
    Maybe this weekend!?:) 20150319_200924.jpg #ad

Looking good. I'm sure you are set - a friendly reminder to make sure the boost hole/port on the carb stud is facing the inlet of the hat.

    good luck

Nice work CX racing headers seem to be a good bargin. One question wouldnt it be better to have a victor jr for fuel distrubution?

Probably, I've seen mixed answers on this. Its a manual street car usually going to be in the single digit boost levels so I care more about drivability than max hp. I never had a problem with it my old motor. If I have to I'm more than willing to get what I need. I've gotten nickel and dimed to death on this thing so right now just want it running. I also keep it on the rich side to help with margin of error. Open to opinions/ experience.

Car is together and runs great! breaking in clutch and working small bugs out. Only have boost at 7psi and It still rips the tires thru 3rd over 60mph. Also, painted wheels and ground effects black.

    quick little 2nd/3rd gear pull thru a tunnel. https://youtu.be/ECZXHxWgiEo 1780689_10102709840330318_7416120901623264553_n.jpg #ad
