'85 coupe stock 5.0 shortblock, tw heads, tfs 1 cam, victor jr intake, holley 650 hp carb, vortech s-trim with 6.87 crank 2.75 upper pulley 15 psi, upr powerpipe, dynamic lupo c4 with 9.5 3800 converter-no brake, car weighes 3,000lbs with me. The motor won't make power much past 5500 rpm so i'm thinking shift points and trap rpm of 5800ish-to keep it in one peice too

I'm leaning more toward the 3.27's because it is a street/strip car and guestimating 135 or so trap would put me right at 57-5800 with a 26' tire that i always ran, plus if i go with a 3.55 and a 28' tire and it's too much then what ? it seems that the gear ratio calculator is almost dead on with 3.27 and 26's vs 3.55 and 28's, just curious if the 60's will be identical if both tires hook similar ? what to do

I have 3:55s and 28in tall tires, I would not recommend it for freeway trips, Im probably doing 70mph at 3k, not really that fun, however, for drag racing Im liking this gear :)

what's your trap mph and rpm ? I came across a fox with a vortech 3.55's and 28's at 132mph was at 6400 rpm with a 4000 converter and c4, gear calculator is way low if thats the case, i'm not wanting to go over 6k max or i'll be picking the block in peices at the end of the track

6,200-6,300 The converter is rather tight 9" transmission specialties with a sprag (too much slip when it was spragless, not to mention it ran a lot hotter with out the sprag)
