    Hello,
Thought I would start a build thread for my 1986 SVO. I have been through literally a half dozen potential combinations but decided to stick with a 2.3 performance build. The block was just dropped off to the machine shop and I have a ton of work to do while I wait on the shortblock. Based on another proven similar combination, I hope to be able to see around 425rwhp @ 25psi. I hope it turns out to be a fun build. Something a little different than a Windsor build and hope to be able to surprise a few as well.

Here’s my current plan (always subject to change)
2.3 stock turbo block (approx. rated to 750rwhp)
Stock crank (approx. rated to 600wrhp)
    CP forged pistons & rods
Big valve (1.89/1.60) ported iron head with Bo-Port Stage 3 roller cam
    Turbonetics T3/T4OE 57 trim stage 3 .63 ar
    Tubular Header w/38mm wastegate
Full 3” exhaust system with Borla Pro XS mufflers (parts from Anthony’s Yellowpony still live!)
Ported lower intake / Gutted upper intake
    80lb Siemens Deka hi-impedance injectors
Large front mount intercooler with BOV
    Tuned via Megasquirt
Pro 5.0 shifted stock World Class T-5 (may not last very long)
Centerforce clutch (prob. won’t last either)
    8.8 rear with 3.55’s

    The car:

Step one: swap out the 7.5 rear for a 8.8 and switch over the five lugs & disc brakes

Next: Swap out the little 85lph pump for a Walbro 255lph under close supervision by the garage foreman "Gunner"

I cleaned the outside of the gas tank and painted with Zero Rust (no pic)

Looks like a nice project. I picked up a SVO a few months ago and was going to do a similar build but I need the space more than the car right now. Looking forward to seeing how yours build goes.

Cool build looking forward to see the outcome of it! Im doing another 88 Turbocoupe now, but trying to go as far as I can with the stock parts for the fun of it. Ok well not 100% stock 3"exhaust,ported E6,T3 .63 and frontmount IC. Gonna go with a Bo head and cam at the beginning of the year and still torn between MS or QH.

Anyway good luck and keep posting your build. I just noticed your in Lincoln University about 10min from me!

    Here's a few more pics.

Adapting a 5.0 EGR block-off plate to fit the SVO upper. Got to drill the bottom bolt hole & a little trimming to do.

Here's the 3" exhaust (except right at the turbo outlet) with bung for the wideband that was installed this summer. It's a 3" y-pipe the local exhaust shop made, going into Borla Pro XS's and flowmaster tails. A new 3" downpipe will be used to replace the turbo outlet to have true 3" system.

Not a lot to report lately...still waiting on pistons & rods. Been two months now and getting impatient. Have been collecting a few parts:

Think now would be the time to get some Scott Rod panels. Still need to clean up the rats nest of a wiring harness.

Ha, your SVO certificate is signed by the owner (Edsel B. Ford II) of the company I work for (Pentastar Aviation), I had no idea he was involved with the SVO/SVT programs.

    At any rate, cool build.
