    he guys and girls,

Im new here, so figured I'd introduce myself.

I have a 77 GMC Suburban with a big block 454 named "STORM".
here is a link to my project page on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/77suburban

I swapped the TH400 for a 4L80E controlled by a Microsquirt Transmission Controller. I have build a Megasquirt MS3X to control ignition, LPG vapor injection and pmw my 2 e-fans. I got the ignition and e-fan pwm control operational. And have done some ignition tuning. And in the end I wanna add a turbo or supercharger and drop it as low as I can [IMG]#ad

Friday was my birthday and I decied to take the leap and buy me a turbo and intercooler to get my project started. So now I need to finish the LPG injection and swap the LS coils in (currently single MSD TBI coil). So I can take the LPX mixer of the throttlebody and install a turbo carb hat on it for boost.

My engine is a MKIV stock low compression (8:1 I estimate) 454 BBC. It only has a Edelbrock PErformer Plus cam and Air Gap intake as only modifications. I'm not looking for big boost. Only max around 7psi just for some and some extra fun and to learn this boost business.

I followed this nice document to do some rough esitmates:
    https://www.garrettmotion.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/GAM_Turbo-Tech-103_Expert-1.pdf

And then inserted the numbers in these compressor maps to look for a turbo that would match nicely.

And I found that the MP4598 turbo, thats looks very if not complete simelar to the GT45 Ebay Turbo.

So yesterday I took the plunge and bought one with Intercooler from Aliexpress

Sonce not a lot of people are building single turbo big blocks for low boost, Im looking for info to see if I can keep my stock manifolds, maybe flip m forward and build me a low budget setup to start of with.

All ideas are more then welcome.

You can keep the stock manifolds, no problem. Start a thread in the builds section, it's one of the more watched sections and you can get help every step of the way. That turbo is really small for a 454, looks like a 69mm compressor / 78mm turbine. You really want something closer to 75mm/93mm.

Lots of big block single turbo builds in that section, find a few and go through them.

    well....I started a topic
77 GMC Suburban 454 MKIV BBC, single turbo, stock manifold options? | The Turbo "Builds" Board (theturboforums.com)https://www.theturboforums.com/thre...c-single-turbo-stock-manifold-options.387063/

and took a couple of hours to search through the big block builds. But none so far with stock manifods. I found one guy in Instagram and he had a lifted 4x4. So he could just angle them forward and run them under the engine forward.

Could you point me in the right direction B E N?

Chances are your not going to find an identical application to what you have, but here are some big block turbo builds:

Here are a couple fords, don't worry about the branding (turbo doesn't care about the brand, just the mass flow). The 460 and 454 are pretty close, and the engine bays are similar size wise

You can get an idea of turbo, wastegate, piping and intercooler sizing. See how people have run piping, there is a huge variety of ways to do things, keep working at it and asking questions there is a ton of knowledge on this site and everyone wants to help.
