Hello everybody, I guess since I am starting to head away from Pro-touring world and enter it the turbo world I should post my build thread here.

Basically The Car is 1968 Camaro is get twin 70mm C & S Specialties turbos a long with a there blow through carb. It will be hooked unto a blueprint 383 crate engine, to 700r4 transmission and ford nine inch.

I won't be dragging the car because, its not really my cup of tea, so I think the transmission will hold to up to the power I will produce, plus I only running 275's out back, thus it should be a smoke show! I hoping to get somewhere around 750 to 800 whp with me setup.

I initially thought that this would, be a less expensive way to add loads of power .... :bang: but, secretively i knew i was lying to myself. Well off to the car and the build and picks!

My blue puppy next to my red fun car! The big problem I think i will fast and time will tell is that my internals are no where to the standard that my 93 supra is built too... hyper eutectic piston, cut crank shaft where my supra is all forged

So I am just going to start in the middle where I am it now Basically we are trying to put 70 mm turbos in a 68 camaro engine bay without cutting the fenders and not messing with the radiator support, its more difficult that we imagined, but after cutting the manifold we believe when put it like this and run a you shape air filter with a heat guard. Of course the wires will be moved to the back and we won't be running an intercooler. I am not trying to put down absurd amount of power because then my block would self destruct

    some photos

Running 70mm turbos in a 1968 Camaro RS without cutting inner fenders is not for the faint of heart

    [IMG]#ad

You can see the new angle of the cut, pushing the turbo inward instead of outwards

    [IMG]#ad

and you can see it again here plus the new carb and Top Hat Looks Narly

    [IMG]#ad

AS you can see how close this thing is to the support... hopefully we can make a little more room! This is crazy these turbos are freakin huge! 7 to 10 pounds spring in each wastegate should make this puppy insane to drive!

So we are running fuel lines, etc some new autometer gauges and some other cool things, but mostly just cutting up stuff and trying to find a sweet spot! I see why people build there own headers lol!

I think the build is going on 8 years and its constantly moving to the next stage! But this is where we are. Hopefully we will have this finished in the next month. I wish I would have new about this website earlier, might have been able to make this build a bit easier!

Quick Question... DO I have all the speciality gauges I need...
I have a boost pressure gauge and an Innovative AFR Gauge

a long with oil pressure, volts and water temperature, temp...

Do I need something aka (trans temp gauge)

And here is a bit of the header finished... we moved it back and will run a 90" boot and mount the cold air intake in the corner

First of all, I love all your cars. What are the specs on that supra? And being a pro touring car I'm assuming you enjoy driving "spiritedly" so I'd consider not only a trans temp gauge but a cooler as well. Same thing goes for your oil if you aren't already.

Can't wait to see this thing on the road!

Thank You! and I will grab a transmission temp gauge today... Officially making run out of gauge Space. I see why people actually do displays now!

    As far as the supra,
It is 1993.5 TT 6-speed that was converted to a single. Running a precision 6768 on it with gsc s1 Cams, Upgrades heads and forged rods/cranks.
I think it is making about 580 + hp on about 18 lbs now but will get it tuned this summer. Full JL sound system, Pro Coilovers, TRD Rearend and Work Rims. Its pretty fun car... But ripped the front spoiler off so it in the shop currently getting some body work done.

    here some pics

Do you guys think there is enough room between the down pipe and the Master Cylinder not to need a heat shield?

Nice Build! No, I think that will be too close...Ironically I was actually thinking: "Hmmm, I hope he does something about the heat" as I was looking at the photo, then scrolled down & saw your question. You may want to wrap at least the downpipes. My Two Cents worth, Lorne

Ok well we shall get a heat shield in there. Do we need one for the steering gear box as well? I have an AGR Billet Cruiser Steering Box that is adjustable ..

Finally... got both sides mocked up... down pipes and turbos situated! The cold side will start soon the trick past will be the waste gates and blow off valves i thing, but the cowl hood brace will be needing a nice trim! Hopefully we will be starting it up this weekend.. if the final touches of the electric goes well!

Probably won't run mufflers on it for some time and all still need to brace the turbos as well

    Here is some engine porn

From the pics i've seen I don't think you need a heat shield on either the MC or the box. The box would be more of a concern to me of the two.

Progress looks good! Sneak up on the tune, don't get it going and mash on it the first time out.

What is your ignition system like? How do you plan to control timing with boost?

Well We are going to wrap it just in case... and I am running the MSD 6520

But Its from C&S Specialties so they have already started me off with the timing for the engine and the carb that is setup specifically for my timing... They said it should literally be good to go when its done. And I would not do that. I plan on driving it around , monitoring all the gauges, heat pressure, etc, listening to the car before even going into the boost.

Well the cold side is done.. It was a tough weld because of the coating of the piping butt we managed! You can see those massive wastage's that need to be mounted!

Well we got the engine done quite a while ago. I think it looks great! We had trouble running the air filters so we had to run them using intercooler piping under the front air damn. That was pretty cool.
However upon driving it we found that it had bad axel hop so we had to stick some caltrac tractions bars on there....

Big Mistake. I guess the axel hope was keeping the transmission alive... I hit it one time under 5 lbs of boost and messed the poor 700r4 transmission. SO it sat awhile in my garage like this

    [IMG]#ad

Until a few days ago, because I found a good priced 4l80 transmission! Hooray!

Now back to getting all the issues fixed

Putting a catch can on it
Fixing the oil leak under the car
Putting an independent transmission cooler on it
Putting the Manual boost controller on it :) WE Are going to double the boost plus 2 lbs! (14 lbs or so)
Getting the new crossmember . and stuff installed and finally getting it tuned to make some big power.... we hope

Nice project. Sad to see that the 700r4 didn't last at all. I have one that'll be sitting behind a soon to be TT big block, but it's pretty built. Still won't be surprised to see it bite the bullet.

Where did you find the deal on the 4l80 and what did it take to swap that in?
