I like the whine sound of a blower so I've some questions about them:

- Do you know the spin max for a 174 Weiand blower? Is it safe to run them over 10 000rpm?
- Both 174 and 256 blower have the same height: 6" (+1" for the carb adapter for the 256) but is the intake manifold the same for both? Height of both?

I'm claiming as much as possible information because I'll build soon a 408W Ford engine using a blower and built to be supercharger (custom cam, AFR 205 heads, dished pistons, ...)

I had one and the Holley tech said "Absolute dead max rpm is 16k" and thing over 14.5k is just heating up the air That is for the 174. I am unsure on the bigger unit.

 

IN Holley's catalog(On BBC) a 177 is 10 5/8" from end rails to carb flange...A 250 is 10 1/2" from end rails to top of blower(Where carb. adaptor bolts on)..I have made my own carb adaptor out of 1/4" alum.For more info,PM me....OLDHEAD....

 

A 174 is too small to get decent boost...

For a 408w and a 174 blower and a 6" lower pulley:

3.75" (upper pulley): 2.75 psi at 6000rpm, blower will spin at: 9600 rpm
3.48" (upper pulley): 4.11 psi at 6000rpm, blower will spin at: 10345 rpm
3.23" (upper pulley): 5.56 psi at 6000rpm, blower will spin at: 11145 rpm
3.05" (upper pulley): 6.76 psi at 6000rpm, blower will spin at: 11803 rpm
2.66" (upper pulley): 9.91 psi at 6000rpm, blower will spin at: 13533 rpm
2.5" (upper pulley): 11.48 psi at 6000rpm, blower will spin at: 14400 rpm
