10" 4500 stall nitrous convertor on a turbo setup ?

ok so i got a c4 set up from someone loacl and it came with a art carr 10" 4500 stall nitrous convertor with anti ballooning plates.so my question is can i use this on my turbo setup. also its more of a street car and i guessing that the 4500 stall is to big so whats a good stall for a street car?

Probably not help you much. But I have a stock 95 windsor blow thru on 10lbs and my setup is a c4 and a 2500-3000 stall. It stall on footbrake around 2200. And It is awesome on the street just cruising. Since your windsor is built I would go with a 3000 or little bigger. A 4500 stall would for sure not be street friendly for a crusier.

What gear/tire are you running? If its advertised to stall at 4500 expect it to blow through some more with the turbo, and if you have any kind of street worthy gear in it I wouldn't expect it to do well on the street. If you can't sell it several of the company's out there will restall it for you.

Fuck yeah it will. Especially if its rating is lower power mark than what you are going to make. The torque and gearing of a turbo car will make it go way up. Mine was VERY tight to get it to stay at 3600. Drove JUST like a stock converter. Do yourself a favor and save for one built for you and your setup. When I finally bit the bullet I was pissed it took me so long to wise up. I got mine from Lenny at ultimate converter. Great guy

3.73 gear which i need to switch to a 3.27tires are 325/50/15...so my question is if in his car he had a 3.73 gear and i put in the 3.27 will it change the stall with me going to a 3.27 vs the 3.73

Yes. Even if your combos were EXACTLY the same to the "T", it would change just because of the gearing. it would go even higher with the 3.27's.

Yep. Why I didn't either. Was worth it though. You can also convert it to another transmission if you change for about 500 iirc.

Less gear =more stall because it loads up more, same as more torque means more stall. I had a 3800-4200 stall in a nova with 3.55 gears and it would overheat on the highway from it slipping so much. So if your 4500on stall is rated there with a 450hp motor, the turbo will make mor hp and more importantly more low end torque so it wouldn't surprise me if it went to 5500+ on a transbrake. A good converter is money well spent to me because its more efficient on the track and the street.

i guess im going to put it in the car with some John Deere Hy-Gard hit the trans brake and see what it does.

Re: 10" 4500 stall nitrous convertor on a turbo setup ?

    Yes.

When I use to have a basic nitrous setup I got a good 9.5" 3500 rpm converter, 4.10's and 28" tires. Felt nice and tight on the street and worked great at the track. Flashed to the rated RPM and then tight from there on. Then I decided to install the turbos on the car. Same cam, same transmission/converter and same gear. Only change was the 8-10 psi from the Garretts.

The converter felt "ok" while driving normally on the street but I would just blow thru it when boost and traction was combined. It stalled at approx 5000 rpm at the track (with the 4.10's !!!). The way the torque "comes on" with the turbo is different than the NA or nitrous setup. I couldn't beleive how crappy my converter felt, I loved it so much before... nice and tight on the street yet flashed at 3500 rpm at the strip. The turbos turned it in a useless POS.

Note that my car weight is 4000++ lbs so it probably wouldn't have been that bad in a lighter chassis, but you would still see the same effect I would think.

I now have a custom 10" billet converter from Hughes. Feels amazing so far, can't wait to try it on the 1320'.

if this is a street car I wouldn't even bother installing it, but that's just me. If it's a race only car that revs pretty high I guess you could give it a try.

I would suggest you send it to a competent converter builder and check if you can have it re-stalled for your application, might be alot cheaper than buying a new converter :)
