How much will dumping the wastegate to atmosphere increase spool time?
    or will it at all?
    I have a Precision pt76-gts with a 50mm JGS wastegate..on a Lightning..

IMHO it is mostly annoying and loud.

If your exhaust is free flowing and does cause back pressure with the W/G closed.
Running the exhaust, bypassed via the W/G, back into it won't matter.

It shouldn't increase spool time at all, as the wastegate will only start to open when you're already spooled up or close to it.

If you put a pressure sensor in the exhaust track before the turbo, you can monitor back pressure and compare it to manifold pressure. It's important to know how much and when. If your making too much than there is a restriction in the system some where. Could be the turbo is too small, could be the waste gate exhaust is interfering with the turbo exhaust, could be the turbo exhaust is too small.

It helps you to know how effecient your system is.
