I've been browsing and searching and learning for a while now, picking up parts and finally am ready to start my own build thread. Just a little history of my 1991 Mustang LX Hatchback (you can skip to the pics if you have ADD  ) I bought it used in the Spring of 1998. Power train was the 5.0L engine and factory 5 speed with 37K miles and was bone stock all the way down to the sir silencer. All power options were factory, p/s, pb, pw, pdl, a/c, cruise and power lumbar in the driver's seat, and a factory sunroof.
I bought it as a daily driver to replace my aging 87 Grand Prix. I had no intentions of making any modifications to the car ( :stupid: ) that lasted until the first trip to the strip at Route 66 in 1998 when I drove it to a blistering 15.909 @ 90 mph. The winter of 98-99 was the first and last snow the car has seen.

Over the next several years I added about every bolt on you can from exahust, shifter and gears to ignition, CAI and long tube headers. I ran nitrous for a couple of years in 02-03, ran a best of 11.7 @ 115, and swapped over to a Procharger P600B supercharger in '04. I bought my house in '04 so the car didn't leave the garage most of that year. I made a single pass in '05 with the supercharged combo and pulled an 11.6 @ 118. I had the car dialed in at 476 hp and 488 ftlbs of TQ thanks to Mike Post at DunotuneMP, but my first pass in '06 resulted in the alternator snapping off a bolt in the front of the head. This led to the discovery of a bounced lifter and other minor carnage in the stock shortblock. New in '07 was a stock block based 306, built 8.8" rear end with 9" ends, 5 lug conversion, roll bar and brake upgrades. The 306 lasted about one month and 120 miles before the #1 main bearing spun junking the motor.
New in '08 was an all forged internals 347 in an A4 block, AOD and Magnafuel fuel system with BBRC rails and 60 lb injectors. I also converted to E85 at this time. I just had the car dialed in with the E85 when the Procharger decided this would be a good time to blow a seal. I sent the head unit in to Procharger to have the seal replaced and also had the AOD gone through so I never got the car out to the track in 2008.

Finally got the car together again in September of '09 and made 489 rwhp with a super loose converter on the dyno. On a test drive 15 minutes later, the Procharger decided to eat itself and scattered the bearing cage all over the inside of my oil pan.

That's when I decided to go turbo.

Anywho, I've had a lot of bad luck with this thing the last 5 years or so, hopefully I'm past all that now. Just picked up a BG CUSTOM TURBO CUSTOM TURBO kit with the Precision 76 turbo and hope to get it running this summer/fall with the new combo.

did you have issues with the original -6 return? i just put the same piece into my car but seems like the return may be a tad small...

I was switching to E85 and only making ~500rwhp with the big ass fuel system so I wanted to upgrade the return. Since that time I've found out the -6 would probably have been perfectly fine.

Was hoping to drop in the motor and trans this weekend but found out I needed to have some modifications to the internals of my trans for the Freddy Brown valve body to work.

    Here's the kit:

    [IMG]#ad

The Turbo, I had the exhaust housing ceramic coated.

Had to grind down the flanges a little to clear the head studs:

Got a little work done today:

Was able to get the motor and trans dropped in finally.

Clearanced the PS frame rail and drilled the oil drain hole:

Clearanced the DS sway bar mount for the DS header:

Got most of it mocked up:

Still have to get the rest of the motor together, mount the intercooler and then it's time to figure out the y-pipe for the exhaust.

Car looks great! How was the down pipe install? Did you drop it in first then bolt the header on?

It's a tight fit for sure. I had the header on already and slid it down behind it. Still trying to figure out how much clearance I will have, I think it's actually touching the header right now. I'll monkey with it some more during final assembly. I just mocked it up tonight to see how it all fit.

Thanks got the headers put on tonight. Had a minor clearance issue with one bolt hole on the DS, but I reamed it out a bit and their all bolted up. Hope to spend a hour so on it tomorrow and hopefully make some good headway by the weekend. :chacha:

:D Yeah, my lady is nice enough to cut me slack to work on the car right now, but we'll see what happens when the ring goes on her finger. Small world huh?

Not yet, working on the turbo setup first. I'll get to that in due time. :D

Did a little redneck fabrication of a valve cover vent baffle so I can hopefully keep from blowing too much oil into my catch can. Not exactly up to par with some of the top notch fabricators on here, but I need to keep my stock valve covers if I want to keep my stock hood on the car. Need to make one for the D/S VC next.

Also reclocked the spring in the tensioner so I can run just my alternator and stock water pump.

Drilled a new hole for the spring

    [IMG]#ad

How it sits now. Belt will route around the tensioner rather than underneath. This will help keep more of the belt wrapped around the water pump pulley.
