This one peice of pipe was sold to Exxon for 61,000 dollars. Its 30"od with a 4 1/2" wall, it was custom made from a solid billet and bored the ID out and machined the OD its only 5' long and was 4150lbs. Its Monel 800 alloy, makes me think of the car i could build for the price of a 5' peice of pipe.

It going to be used as a nozzle for the burner inside a koker unit, its what the flame goes through to cook the crude in a koker its like 8000 degree's and has to be replaced every two years.

I thought this was some nice tig work, done with what you call a hot tig torch that means no foot peddle or heat control, set the heat on the machine and go ,as you weld the hotter it gets the faster you have to move the torch.

It was done on a set of pipe stands, no turning start at the top and go down and around, so you have flat/ down hill/ and uphill all in one pass and has to pass 100% x-ray.

I use monel tubing on every job I do. I currently have 90 feet of 4.5" OD by 2.25" ID monel and it's 8250 feet underneath me and drilling through the ground. We use it all the time on directional oil/gas wells because it is resistant to corrosive hydrocarbons and more importantly non magnetic. The accelerometers and magnetometers inside my navigating tool communicate with me on surface via electromagnetic pulses, and I need to be able to isolate this from magnetic interference in the typically steel drill pipe.

That's a special Canadian oilpatch dialect.

As a spoken sentence it sounds more like it's from North Dakota except where they add the "aye" at the end of the sentence to make it sound like a question.
