im thinking about doing a 5.3 out of a escalade and a 75mm turbo.
Reason being is that i have all the stuff to do it.

what cam would you use, thats all i want to change and valve springs
it will be blow through on E85

how much power do you think can be made

    i have MSD boost controller
    tial 44mm blow off valve
    tial waste gate
Extreme velocity Bonnet w/ 1inch spacer
    13202 aeromotive regulator
2 1/2 stainless steel exhaust pipe for cross over to turbo

it can make good power like around 600rwhp on a good high boost set up, maybe over 18 psi. whats the AR on the turbine side?

I am in the process of the exact same thing. I currently run a 350sbc, but am building this setup so when my old school blows, I can move over to the new technology. I think it will run just fine. It is basically better powerplant than a old school 350 in stock form, and it is proven to propel mustangs into the 9's in stock form with a ls6 cam. So... works for me.

these motors on stock bottom end will start having problems at around 17psi people have made it into the 600rwhp area a bunch of times

i plan on doing the same thing i have a cammed 5.3 (218/224 .550/.550 114lsa) i built up going into my 1994 camaro and then getting a 75mm s400 on it.. as far as cam i know parish gained 100rwhp by using a 02 z06 cam over a stock 5.3 cam at 8psi but if it was me since the turbos a tad bit on the larger side i'd go with something like a Virginia speed turbo cam like this one VTC1-22x-21x .60x-.59x it will make tons of low end to help spool that turbo very nicely on a 5.3. Shawn at VA speed assured me that it will spool a s400 very well

You'll need a lot more injector with E85 and you should think about rod bolts also.

youll be suprised how well it actually works. i run a 4.8 with a 88mm turbo and runs quite well for the setup. my cam is larger then most run in 400+ cubes but idles fine, drives fine and pulls like a freight train. dyno'd 702 at 16psi with a 10.4 afr. Has lasted 6k hard miles at this power level shifting at 7500 rpms

    cam is 230/236

I'm gonna be running a S475 w/ 1.36 A/R on my 5.7 ls1 in my truck pretty soon. I have one of these to help it spool though :)

stock ls2 intake, stock 241 heads with springs on 02 4.8. CR is around 8.8cr. there is a build thread, a dyno thread in this section of this site.

downfall being a 4.8 with no compression is that it comes in much later then most would want. But its like having 2 vehicles in one. under 4500-5k you have a stock vehicle with stock power, push it past 5k and you wake up the beast. the transititon from na to boost is harsh to say the least. Similar to having a big cam NA setup.

Let me first say, I'm not familiar with the Escalade motor at all, ok now that I said that I hope that it uses an iron block rather than the aluminum block and terrible headgasket retention, and failing bolt threads that the smaller 4.6 in my Cadillac DTS and many others suffer from. One overheat equals stripped bolt holes failed gaskets and expensive repairs. The head bolts actually thread in to the aluminum block with no sleeves and the casting is known to be very porous in that area especially, with small voids surrounding the threads. Just throwing it out there, if it doesn't apply just disregard.

Ya, it is. You need an open manifold and a divided turbine housing. Out of boost and till about 5-6 psi all the exhaust will flow through only one scroll (half) of the housing hitting the turbine at about twice the velocity, then at 5-6 psi it will open and allow full flow to the turbine.
