Is it supposed to open at idle? Here is a pic of it. I know its a cheesy ricer piece but it was cheap and I thought it would work for me. Vacuum is supposed to be hooked up at the top right? Thanks.

Thats how they work, the only time it will be closed is when you're building boost. How much did it run you and what does it sound like?

I have it hooked up to the vacuum tree on the firewall and it doesnt open at idle or anything. So I don't know what it sounds like.
    I think I payed $60 for it.

try to understand what's going on at idle. The throttle body is closed, and the turbo hasn't exactley stopped spinning, therefore a minute amount of pressure is building in the cold side, therefore the BOV is venting to atmosphere, open

Do you have any suggestions for me? Maybe its not getting enough vacuum or does that matter? I am trying to understand this but does vacuum have anything to do with whether it opens and closes or does it operate off of boost only? Thanks for the help.

Pull it off and keep the vaccume line to it. Suck on the line and if it opens then its fine. If it doesn't then try adjusting the screw if has one or send it back.

The top turns for the adjustment. I took the spring out and it opened up at idle, so I am wandering if maybe the spring is to long or too tight? With the spring in I can push up from the bottom and it will open up, thats why I thought it wasn't getting enough vacuum or something.

that BOV is not supposed to be open at idle, its not a bypass valve. It only vents to atmosphere between shifts.

I didnt want to hear that but I guess as long as it opens on the shifts I will be fine right? I didnt hear it open on the shifts the other day but I am also running open downpipes right now so that could have been the reason I didn't hear it open.
