Installing an extra BOV with the adjustable spring on it (not plumbed to manifold) works as a sort of "burst panel". Cheap and easy anyway. Can set it up to pop open using shop air at a manifold pressure slightly higher than you'd want to go. Works as a run away boost control safety deal as well.

Buddy recently blew his intake all to hell injecting tons of straight methanol pre-turbo (4 1650 injectors maxed out). Super impressive results before the the big boom though. Non intercooled running up to 60lbs with 15oish IAT's.

I kinda figured what the hell , if it backfires it's going to be a bad time anyway might as well eject the charge pipe too.

There’s a lot of energy pent up in the charge piping in those conditions. Pretty much a pipe bomb if your couplers hold. A$34 dollar part could make it semi safe.

Another factor that should have made my Trans Am a dry setup is the horrid TPI intake. Definitely a dry flow efi design and not made to flow much fuel. God only knows what was going on inside that thing at high boost and spray for fuel distribution. LOL

Thanks for bringing up an awesome thread! I loved reading the grenade threads a long time ago and somehow missed this one.

I wish I had read this years ago! I have a similar low cranking psi 4.8 and have messed with cam timing, ignition timing, and everything drivetrain trying to get it to perform. 3.90 gears, small tire, loose converter, and more timing than most people by like 7° and it's getting there.

Sucks about the fire. I'm glad to see you turn that around

Don't know if you've seen this article already or not,but it's similar to what you're wanting to do only they used 6.2 block. I've been looking into doing a similar destroker with either the LS2 or LS3 aluminum block to keep weight down, with Pauter rods/ported LS9 heads/XS design or Holly sniper intake/Holly Smart coils and Comp LST stage 2 cam w XFI 2.0 .
Thinking along the same lines of that screaming hi-revving v8 combined with 2 x sx362e turbos sound, especially in a car weighing little over 3000lbs w 6 speed that handles like it's on rails. Nothing over the top 1000hp type thing but low boost 750hp for cruising, that I can turn the boost up a little on the occasional strip run just to test and tune. Kinda like a boosted version of the '69 Camaro z28 DZ302 7500+rpm engine, only pump gas (w water/meth) friendly and reliable enough to drive regularly if I want and shock the hell outta newer mustang or Challenger. https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/4-8l-crank-ls3-block-how-to-build-an-8000-rpm-ls-stroker/
