Hello, newbie here. I have searched everywhere and I can't find a definitive answer. I have this new turbo for my M57

    https://www.turbosystems.info/product-page/bmw-m57n-e60-e65-upgrade-turbocharger

with electronic control. I want to clock it to a top mount (easy to flip the exhaust manifold over on a M57).

The stock turbo is a Garrett 711099 58.2 (I have no idea how to read that into something intelligible!)

Is it possible to do so with this turbo as it is aninternal waste gate?? If so, how? I still have the stock turbo (which is still fine, just wanted to improve on it) I'm happy to experiment on the old turbo before I attempt anything on the new one.

Why top mount? It's going in a Land Rover Defender roadster (long story) for overlanding in Africa. I want to keep that roasting hot turbo out of the long dry grass so it doesn't burn my truck to the ground :-0

    Many thanks!

Your question is unclear, what exactly are you asking?
    "How" what?

You can "flip" the turbo to be a top mount, the internal wastegate will function the same anyway the turbo is positioned.
You will have to "clock" the center cartridge so the oil feed is pointing straight up, this won't affect the wastegate because it sits between the compressor and turbine housing.

If the compressor outlet needs to be "clocked to a different position than you will need to modify the wastegate actuator bracket or fabricate one that bolts to compressor side using the compressor housing mounting bolts. You can probably find a bracket for sale online that will do that. The wastegate actuator unbolts from the bracket.

This type of wastegate mounting bracket would be required:

Treadstone sells one that fits from T3 to T04E/T04B compressor housings.
