Working on making exhaust fit. I'm trying to get the more complicated fab work items done, I have exhaust, radiator mounting, throttle pedal/cable. Then its rear brakes, fuel system, and some electrical left.

Whipped out some tailpipes this afternoon. This exhaust has been somewhat challenging, it may not look like it, but lots of things to clear, has to go under the axle, around the fuel tank...... #ad

So I put together an 8.8 from a fox body, narrowed it's about. 75" per side, ordered moser axles with GM bolt pattern. Last week I ordered a complete rear brake kit from a mustang resto place. Opened the boxes last night to do brakes, the part number on the shoes cross with a chevy cruize and all the boxes of hardware had been opened and then taped back shut.

These types of setbacks have been very common lately, really starting to hamper the progress of my build. Honestly almost everything I order has been more than 10+ days in shipping, or the wrong parts.

 

Much better ground clearance with this exhaust setup. It's not exactly what I wanted, but it's what will work. #ad

Finished the rear brakes, ran some new lines, bled everything out, so yea, brakes are done. #ad

Not sure if that’s the correct term. It’s a wastegate for the charge pipe. You put a smaller pulley then needed on the blower then the charge pipe wastegate limits max boost via a spring so the centerfusial gets target boost instantly and the spring opens the gate not allowing you to overboost. It’s not a blow off valve I’ve seen it on a few procharger setups and found it interesting.

 

Nah nothing like that right now, just a good old BOV. If my math is correct my pulley size should make the boost level at the rpms I want. I will probably be wrong and have to change something, time will tell.

 

I took the charge pipe to have welded. Pretty much got all the fuel lines ran, Wayne@ Fasster.Inc. sent me a box of goodies. Rails, crossover, fittings, hose regulator and filter, stuff is great, this is my 3rd build using his stuff.

Once again, things arent how I want, but they are how they can work, for now. Mainly don't like my air filter location but theres no room to go down and forward towards the radiator support. #ad

Getting close. Car has electrical power in all the right places. Next week will probably be first startup. The small handheld is held on with a small magnet and will be used to monitor the vitals, but can tuck back under the dash easily. #ad

 

September 5th of 2023 is when I started pulling this car apart. June 26th 2024 it fired up with the supercharged LS.

Tune is a bit rough, but I rushed through it to get it to fire up. Oil pressure is good at 42psi, ran for about 10 min, coolant temp was at 129deg. Blower sounds solid, no odd noises. No visible leaks anywhere. And this spintech muffler sounds straight up nasty in a good way, louder than what I wanted but sounds good.

 

So after pushing the car outside to do a second startup I could hear that the blower noise was a little "off". It was loud first startup, but I figured it was due to being in my garage making an echo. This was not the case. I believe it was bad before installation. #ad

 

Bummer, is that a standard bearing that can be replaced or do you have to send it back to the manufacturer?

 

All the bearings and seals can be purchased easily, and installation isn't too bad with the right tools.
