Doing my first Turbo set up and wondering if dumping wastegate into the downpipe towards end of run or should I just run the wastegate tubing alongside the downpipe? Does it make a difference? Also, would i plumb it after the o2 sensors if I connect to downpipe?

If you dump the gates open pipe,it'll be loud when they open. Ear ringing loud. I've had 3 turbo cars,2 with open gates, 1 muffled, and the muffled one was better IMO. Won't matter if main exhaust is loud though. If the exhaust is somewhat quiet, running the gates back into the DP will help keep the noise down. You can merge the gates into the DP before or after the O2,I just wouldn't do it close to or just in front of it.

It make sense that they can be heard but I cannot hear my WG's at all. Not a single sound.. I have no idea why either the only thing I can think of is b/c they are located very low just behind the radiator and the exhaust port is pointed down at the ground.

I would plumb all wastegates separately open to atmosphere from after narrow o2’s if applicable. If you are referring to wide o2 in downpipe it dosent matter if the wide is reading 100% of the exhaust unless perhaps you are requiring utilizing it for a tuning computer system.

I vent mine to atmosphere with baby mufflers on them. Can't hear them at all.

I had mine dump into the exhaust system, since I'm changing my setup a bit this time I'm going to try dumping to atmosphere but I'm going to run it to the rear of the car so I'm not dumping hot exhaust into the engine bay.

Wow, thanks for all the replies. Lots of info. Looks like either way will work and comes down to preference. I do like the idea that if the WGs are loud, I can put mufflers on them. I cannot picture tiny mufflers tho. lol.
If anyone has any pics I would be extremely grateful to see them. I always like to see what others have done.

I have a Racepak sensor for each side and was going to install on downpipe closest to the firewall for ease but was not sure if WG would cause a wonky signal. Sounds like it won't affect it so that's good to know. I would like to have a sensor for each cylinder but at $570 per I will have to slowly get all 8 then install on a refresh.

Imo dumping to the rear is a waste of time. Just aim it clear of everything to the ground, away from the tires.

Everyone is going to say I’m wrong but it is better to have the tuning o2’s before the wastegates and the turbo because the turbo will cause false o2 readings when turbo wheeps oil into the hotside down pipe. Safety first.

The initial plan was to install o2's at the collector. Maybe ill go back to that thought as your explanation makes sense. Giving Racepak a call to see what Todd thinks. Thanks Turbo for the advice. I have quite a bit tied up in the engine and don't want to sacrifice just for ease of install

Install the 02s after the turbo. Don't over think it.

02s can be affected by pressure (pre turbo).

If you have oil seeping past the turbo seals, fix the issue. It would have to be a big oil leak at that and your car would look like a crop duster at that point.

I agree with after the turbo. Depending how long the piping is some O2's can't handle the heat pre-turbo and as was mentioned above the pressure can affect the readings. Install them per the MFR's recommendation.

Some people have installed them pre-turbo with no issues and there is a special bung that helps dissipate the heat better if needed.

I think at this point its not a bad idea for me to place bungs in both spots and test out which works better. I did enjoy the crop duster comment. lol
