Dodge 8.0 Turbo Drain Location?

Is anyone running a gravity drain on a Dodge 8.0, or know of any drain examples? Seems like all the Viper guys are running scavenge pumps, some of which return up top. The one truck I've seen has a remote mount and the same sort of deal. Where I'm mounting mine should have plenty of height to not require a scavenge pump. The trouble is the pan doesn't look to have a very good spot to return it. I haven't pulled it yet to see if it's feasible, but the next thought is drilling and tapping a spot on the skirt.

Scavenge pump is not needed if there is direct free flow of gravity for the oil return to pan. If it is not free flowing you will need to scavenge.

Also for info I would search for underbody mounted turbo cars to see the return methods or just go oiless and have fun running the water lines to the turbo…

Once you pull the pan you will have a good idea where to put it. You want it above the oil level, try to dump it pointing at one of the mains to minimize windage if possible. Sounds like a cool project, I've always been fond of those trucks.

No I've got the opposite problem- everyone else is running low mount or remote mount turbos that necessitate a scavenge pump. I've got plenty of height so I won't require one. The problem is getting a good return point into the engine.

I'm familiar with the requirements as I've done it on several different builds before. The problem is with this oil pan there's barely any room under the flange to install a fitting or get it above the oil line. That's why I'm wondering if anyone has had a creative solution or if I need to start looking at going through the block skirt.

You could dump into a valve cover if the turbo is high enough, I am not familiar enough with the oiling system on these to know if that is a great idea or not.

I'm not sure if it would work due to accessory drive clearance, but that's a good idea. I'll have to see if there's a way I could possibly make that work.

EDIT: Negatory. Oil filter assembly takes up most of the passenger side. No room on the driver side with the power steering pump. Can't go to the front due to the water pump and balancer. You might be able to sneak in a fitting if your turbo is waaaay high.
