I'm looking for a continuous duty oil pump for a low mount turbo. Tilton no longer lists a viton continuous duty pump the buna version is rated to 160*f. They used to offer a viton version but seems no more. I'm not buying their $250 pump and then putting $80 of viton parts in it.
Is the Italian gear pump a good unit? Marcal, Mocal, turbowerx etc all seem to be the same pump. Earl's (Holley) even has one of these with their label for $500! The high volume unit is $250 comes with helical bronze gears and rated for continuous duty. Seems like a good pump
I'd like to be able to mount the pump above the drain it would make it much easier.
    Thanks

I use the Turbo Werx pump and its been great, no issues as of yet with it. Mine is mounted about an inch higher than the turbo drain and it doesn't have any problems returning the oil to the engine.

I've run a Holley 'red' fuel pump as a scavenge pump on two different projects for a couple years with good success. Its a gear pump and seems to do just fine at the temps of turbo return oil.

    Holley red = vane pump.
    Great suggestion.

I agree, vane pump will move air and foam, gears will not.

Holley instructions for the red pump say it won't pull.
I emailed about the exa pump they said no problem up to 3' above the drain. Sam has had good results I'm leaning that way
I called Tilton as well and even if you replace the diaphragm and bypass with viton the pump itself isn't rated for temps above 160* continuous.
Are there electric gerotor pumps? Seems that might be an option.

summit website say they have more than 10 tiltons

I will say ive tried a holley pump and it did not work for this use. Ive some across others that claimed it they worked fine.

Agree on the Holley the instructions say it has to be gravity fed so that's out for me.
Tilton tech support scared me off using theirs and I returned it.
I'm going to try the exa pump. up to 3' above drain level, no problem with 250* oil and continuous duty. I'll update my Lincoln build with how it works.
    Thanks for all the input.

I reckon a Holley Red will lift. The main problem is leakage past the pumping elements when its dry and trying to pressurise a fuel system or lift fuel at the outlet while sucking air from the tank below. Used with oil rather than fuel it would retain some liquid in the pump for some time. Even when dry (after a long shutdown) it is not starting with pressure on the outlet side. Under those conditions it will pump air until oil (or foam) starts coming out of the turbo - the turbo will push the oil uphill until it hits the pump without too much getting past the turbine and compressor seals.

You could also ensure it never drains dry by running the turb drain up till slightly higher than the pump - then down to the pump - then up again after the pump. Oil will get trapped in this loop with the pump at the bottom.
