I know it sounds like a stupid thing for me to say to you, but check all your plugs and close the gap on them, then retest. And yes you have oil burning off from everywhere so expect some smoke.

not stupid really. im still new to all this. What gap do you recommend?

when checking the ic pipework, i pulled the plugs thinking i had fouled one from the failed injector driver, when actually it was the cleanest of them all. the rest of the plugs have only the slightest amount of soot on them.

im running something like .8mm gap.

I need to hear what a .8mm gap is in retard language numbers to give you my opinion on gap. But keep in mind gap is difficult for me to give based on your possible ignition setup/plugs used/fuel used. Think of how much oil vapor a stupid tiny little vaporizer oil can put out. Your exhaust to the back of the car is soaked in oil residue, it’s going to take a little while to burn all that off.

    .8mm is .315"

plugs i believe im running BCPR6ES. they are stock for the factory supercharged variant of this motor. after a bit of research people recommend BCPR7's if anything more than stock is done (pulley swap, turbo swap, etc.), so i may swap to those.

gas, 91-93 octane, ignition is COP, packs are from a yaris, though i think they are just generic packs with specific mounts on them.

IMO that gap is humongous and I can’t even imagine why it would be gapped that big. You should switch plugs to a cold temp NGK and shut that gap down to .084 my plugs have a 7 which I think is heat range.

Oh also forgot to mention you can be hitting moments that are to rich and it blows out the spark making the car feel like it’s missfireing and can make a loud explosion out the exhaust upon occurance.

    whoops, decimals. .8mm is .0315".

like i said, its weird its doing this now when it was perfectly fine before the injector driver died and the turbo failed

Ok so your gap tiny and your running a medium range heat plug which is ok I think. The other oddball that may not apply is air pockets getting in the fuel or inability for tank to properly vent (hard to believe this could be it despite what you have going on).

Have you been able to find if the misfire is one or more cylinders yet? Id start with that assuming everything else with the turbo and fuel injection is running ok.

i have no way of determining if its a single cylinder misfiring or multiple. the ms3x is not set up to count coil pack triggers.

i know itd be a shot in the dark, and itd kinda mess up my fuel tables, but i am tempted to swap in my spare set of injectors. i would swap the one that got stuck on, but i dont know if the chinese ones flow the same as the oem ones, and the resistances are not as close as id expect (chinese is ~12.6 ohm, oem is ~13.6ohm)

i also have this gut feeling that another injector driver is about to fail. i think the mosfets that got used on the ecu are from a bad batch seeing as when the last one failed, it was misfiring randomly before straight up shorting out. i have been ridiculed that it must be something with my build, but no one has any specifics, and there was another post quite some time ago where the exact same thing happened to someone else, and it ended up being a bad batch of mosfets.

i am also open to other suggestions
