Just wanted to get your guys opinions on this. I had a pair of 66mm wastegates from precision turbo that I used for about 6 months before I realized the valves weren't sealing. I sent them back to precision turbo and they sent me two brand new wastegates because they were still under warranty. I received the new wastegates and before installed them I checked the seals with a flashlight. It turns out the new gates are leaking as bad or worse than the ones I sent back. Have you guys experienced these issues with your wastegates or did I just happen to get 4 that were an anomaly. Ive always heard good things about Precision Turbo and am really surprised by the situation. I emailed Precision back about the new gates and am just waiting to hear back from them. Not sure if I should try another brand or if I should go for a third round of gates from Precision.

When you install the clamp on it, the valve seat,or fire ring will push up tighter to the valve. Tried that? I had 2 of their 46mm gates on my last combo with no issues.

Same, I also had the light gap on my 46mm before installing the fire rings.

I'll try tightening the clamp to see if it will seal against the seat. Do all new wastegates come not sealed like this? How does the manufacturer check tolerances to make sure it will seal after its clamped? The gap on the 2 gates aren't the same. One gap is bigger than the other.

The gap without the fire ring being fully seated really doesn't matter. As long as the ring pushes against/seals to the valve when all is tightened up :2thumbs:. It can't push up too far, because the valve will just move with it.

The fire ring will protrude some until tightened down with the clamp. It will compress the spring as it seats the ring, preloading the valve.

I got a message back from Precision Turbo and the waste gates are definitely not right. After several apologies, they tell me that their service dept will contact me shortly to get them back in house for inspection and they are sending me another pair immediately. I'm happy with the way they are handling it. So for anyone who may run into the same scenario with a new set of wastegates not sealed, you may want to give the manufacturer a call.
