Can you turn off a turbo with exhaust cutouts?

I was thinking of putting a rear mounted turbo on my 350z and I was wondering, that if you were to put exhaust cutouts before the turbo, would there be a way to turn off the turbo by switching the exhaust . I don’t know how the tuning, oil or anything would work. Or if it’s even possible to run a tune for that. Of if it’s even possible.

Isn't that essentially the whole purpose of wastegates, to regulate and control boost? Use a larger than needed wastegate with low 1-2 psi springs, and CO2 with controller to ramp up boost when you want it too.

The waste gate is an exhaust cutout. What problem are you trying to solve?

I close my cutout to slow down the turbo. Spool more slowly = better traction + earlier gate opening = lower total boost pressure = reduced engine VE = reduced power and torque.

Open cutout, car wants to run off the road with too much torque too quickly, it takes better tires for a open cutout situation

So for me, cutout is just for noise and top speed. If I want to run from a dig I always use closed first, then maybe open once 80mph+ with 600rwhp @ 3000lbs
