Yea RH blew Headgasket at 9.2psi. On a low compression 73' 455. Fully stock, never opened= 504hp. 764lbs torque @ 25* timing ( they happy at 34-36*) with a gt45. He wanted to upgrade heads cam intake.
Especially intake was a problem. Because of the exhaust crossover = high temp. He never did.
That is all stuff I solved already ;)

Hey Guys i started to mock up /Fab
i use square tube for the primary runners (fits perfect)
and a 3' 14ga tube for the Log however my idea of having a Vband in the back of the log doesnt work due to the orientation . I want to mount the Log as High as possible, the heads exhaust port aim downwards so i will accomodate for that by angle the Primary tubes into the 3" log

i will also follow the design of the OEM manifolds and that means that the Start of the crossover has to start at a specific location to clear the block/trans and any kind of frame. + i want it to hug the block to avoid further clearance issues when fabbing the final crossover then.

I mounted the Alt bracket back on to make sure i clear it in the front

Further here is the orientation /design of the OEM Manifold Driver side that i Cross over Into then, from Under the Oilpan Trans/Converter gap

That would mean on my LOG design it will not be a perfect design but hopefully it works if i do it like this?

    What you think?

Any chance you could make a down and back angle to your log joints? It will help flow if you can avoid the 90° angle.

will be hard , if i look at my C10 with a BB in it as a reference the Frame will be in the way if i aim anyhow down.
i will create it as tight a possible i am thinking like this

    Look what showed up.
I definitely need to support that weight some how. The CxRacing t6 vband elbow has provisions that I can use to tie it to the engine block. And once I have a Car for it I'm sure I can fab something for extra support.

    Well that escalated quickly.
It will clear the oem.alt bracket, AC is a no go. The passenger side is the only side I can see that big turbo sitting on the driver side we will definitely have to fight with powersteering and steering shaft.

I am aware that the design isn't perfect, I think opting for a 3 in log is helping the flow and I think for what I do it will be OK.

I have to close up the end of the log and see how to setup the crossover starter.

I also ordered a 60mm Wastegate and will add the wastegate port to the log as close to the turbo as possible otherwise I really don't have much space.

Progress! That's exactly what I had envisioned with rectangle tubing off the flange.

Since I do not have the ability to weld cast/alu I am a bit limited on where to place my 60mm wastegate.
I will use a t6 90 vband and will place the wg as close as possible
I thought about this (certainly not perfect) but I want to feed into the 4" exhaust of the turbo.

I suggest getting your cross over fabricated first. Or at least have a good idea how it will enter the manifold. You want the best flow path possible to the wastegate for both banks.

Thanksi am pretty sure i have the Crossover Figured out but will not fab anything yet since i dont have a project to sit the engine in Yet. But i have the logs cross over start already to go under and back into the stock manifold on the driver side
    see here (2.4IN + FLEX )

however i seen turbo kits with the WG positioned right in the middle of the cross over.
when i think about it this will only control the exhaust gases coming from the Driver side? so in order to control DR and PASS side that will "blow exhaust gases into the Turbo , it makes the most sense to be as close to the turbo i think which will be the furthest front option on the Log for me i guess?

Didnt realize you where doing a cross over. You location will work. If you can angle the outlet to help flow into the wastegate it will help with control.

Just about everytime Ive seen someone put a wastegate at the middle of a cross over , they have boost control problem.

UPDATE: I was slammed with work + I have my buddies 65 C10 in the shop and we button up a LS swap right now.
    20220530_175629.jpg #ad

    However
I was able to re assemble the engine. I added a 10 An Oil return fitting to the pan.
I got the heads magnafluxed, resurfaced and added bigger stainless valves and matching springs from TA performance. Then I also converted them to aluminum heads and shaved off 50lbs at least by painting them with alu paint lol. + I blocked the exhaust crossovers since that was something RH said created high intake Temps in his Buick 455 boost test.

I added a IAT sensor to the intake since I really want to monitor the E85 Temps on there ;).

Yes E85 I got a old 4150 750DP that i will convert to E85 and try to run this setup on E85 then.
That will most likely eliminate the need for a intercooler since the blowthrough E85 most likely has nice and cool intake tips anyways.
( I rely on a couple nice facts I saw)

New lifters, pushrods, valley gasket, headgaskets etc. All OEM stuff.(rockauto)

    She's coming together

Hey Guys Sorry for long time no hear,
i was loaded with Work , had to travel Overseas and took the chance and had vaca in Germany to visit some family, it was awesome.

i finally worked on the wastegate location , i think it is pretty ok ( not perfect but i accomodate the exhaust flow and im sitting fairly close to the turbo so it should work OK i think.
please dont mind my choice of material i literally pieced it together from 2.5 In Exhaust tube i had laying arround
    # no pretty bit finctional.
i am pretty sure i am able to route a 4in Exhaust goin to the back and down under (almost ) any car.
i mainly oriented it towards a GM A-Body since i have a 68' Buick small Block twin turbo (63s) and maybe replace that guy with this 455.
Once i know the car i can work on some reinforcements for the 90 Turbo Vband mount.
Or i fab a bracket that mounts behind the Alt and arround to the 90 Mount( creating also a heat shield for the ALT.

PS i need to get a 2.5 Vband clamp the one that came with the ebay 60mm wastegate SUUUUCKS

Sorry guys not much more improvement on this
    due to 2 things
    1. i am building a E85 Blow through 4150 /750cfm right now for it, but the shipping of the Quick fuel e85 metering blocks is in NOVEMBER summit says. so i cancelled it for now and wait.

    2. i have no Project car im putting this in yet so i purposely left the crossover pipe unfinished until i know the car i put it in.

So this project is on PAUSE for now. however the engine is built. the Turbo Fits and i am sure it will be a blast.
For now i have to focus on 2 other projects, one is my wifes 81 Z78 Camaro that has a bit of priority ...

i come back and play with it
