Concerning the TFI. Do the power, ground and pip signal wires plug in at the TFI module or can they go directly to the hall effect sensor.

You mean on the Holley HP or Dominator? Or TerminatorX? Or just in general?

Tuff stuff alternator I put in the car initially took a crap, new one on the way. I'm torn between getting a manifold to work with the blow through, or doing a throttle body and injectors but I really don't want a typical 5.0 stock fuel injection manifold because it's ugly. Is there an affordable(I'm cheap) solution for a manifold and injectors that uses a 4150 elbow and throttle body or something similar?

Been in hiding for a while. Got some Caltracs on the car, installed a battery kill switch, polished it a bit more. Still in line for a block from DART. All the other stuff is ready to go, just need something to put it in. I think I've made up my mind on fuel/ignition, I'm planning on biting the bullet and doing Holley Termi X. I will keep it as is for now with the new engine and save up my pennies for the Holley stuff. TIGd some spring top hats to run 2.5" coilover springs on my Vikings in the front, and extended my exhaust to in front of the back tire with a 10" straight muffler. The open pipe at my door was getting a bit much for how often I've been driving to work and cruising. 20220302_081711.jpg #ad

Looking good. Glad you're still at it.

I'm also converting my hood to lift off. Yesterday I cut all the structure out of it and dropped 20lbs,but it's a little flimsy,LOL. Hoping a riveted on T Bolt scoop will help it out. :afraid2:

Mine is a little flexible, but not to the point it could cause an issue. I found the scoop on ebay, did a little trimming and riveted it on. It did tighten it up a little. Helped with Temps a lot

On a Holley Sniper. Can TFI work and control timing.

I ran the TFI with Holley HP for a while. I had no issues, but I think Holley discontinued the adapter harness for it do to a lot people having problems.

HP and Dominator can run TFI. Sniper can not.

While we're on that topic, I have the 2 wire Ford distributor from one of the early 5 speed fox bodies. Is that easier to use on the Terminator?

I think my plan right now is to get a 4150 intake that has injector bungs already, run my carb until I'm ready to buy the Holley, then get injectors and a throttle body at that time (or buy them along the way if I find good deals).

Pics for clicks. Caltracs installed, front leaf mounts redone to be partially in the frame rail. Axle tubes welded, MIGd but used stainless wire and some pre/post heat. Front spring top hats to use 2.5" coilover springs with the stock setup on the Viking DA shocks. They came with springs that had a 5" OD at the top for the original sprung seat.

Yes, that distributor can be used. You'll want to lock out the advance so the ECU can control the timing.

Awesome, thanks! I've got the centrifugal advance locked already, using the vacuum to get more timing at cruise and idle. Honestly the thing runs pretty well for no real timing control.

No, it requires a sniper distributor, and ign box with harness.

I don't think the ecu will control that. I'm confused, we're bouncing around from sniper to termy, which are completely different and require different peripherals.
For the termy, you'll need either a dual synch distributor or a TFI with the adapter harness. I have no idea why anyone says they have an issue, I've installed and tuned dozens of these without a glitch. You can't use the factory carb ford distributor because it doesn't produce a cam and crank signal for sequential injection and timing control. The termy has to have ckp and cmp input to work.
    Hope this clears it up.

The fox terminator kit comes with the tfi adapter in the kit. Easiest way to put a holley on a sbf imho. Most of the sensors are the factory ford stuff.

Yeah I'm mainly asking about the Terminator. I have the old carb 5.0 dissy, 2 wire. Guess I would need to replace it with the TFI to produce the cam signal? Then just a crank pos sensor installed in the stock pointer I have.

Agree that switching between Sniper and Termi is confusing.

I think the ECU can use that signal from the Hall Effect sensor in the stock Ford dist for cam signal. He would of course need a crank signal from a crank trigger. But yes, on a Termi the TFI would be easier. The crank trigger would be "better".
