well....the results are in... 309hp at the engine. I was on a dyno that had software that calculates driveline loss by flippig it into neutral after a full pull. I forgot to bring the dyno sheets, so dont have the graphs yet, but Ill get those somewhere this week by email and I'll share them here.

Saturday was my birthday and my wife and kids gave me this dyno afternoon as a present. Coolest present ever hahaha...We tried some more timing and leaner fuel (cause it was rich on top), but could find any more power. dropping timing from 38 to 32 on top made the power start to drop. So any advance over 32 didnt cause detonation, but also didnt result in any more power. Only thing that gave more power wat taking pf the air filter. That raised the power from 296 to 309hp. So my stock air filter is a pretty bad flow restriction I guess.

Whe I go through the video I can see 200-ish rear wheel power and after relasing the throttle I can see close to 100-ish negative horsepower. But isnt 100 ish driveline loss a crazy amount?

For now, here is a video and some photos I put together.

Not really. If you have oversize off road tires, or heavy load range d/e/f they eat power. Transfer case, old heavy transmission, accessories, steel wheels, drum brakes etc. A 411 hp 6.2l raptor makes about 310 stock so you are in the ballpark.

Wow!! You have to be pleased with that! Made more than I expected anyways.

Now to get the turby installed!

After the dyno my project came to a standstill. Im currently focussing on finishing rebuilding my wifes suburban. Het 74 GMC K2500 Suburban has been in storage for 4 years and has a new body.
Its a diesel body, but the engine is a gasoline version. So I had to look into what to use and what to rip out to clean up the wiring harness. Im keeping the newer-ish harness, because it has the newer fuse style (mini in stead of glass fuses).

I did look into how much power I losse from my drivetraine. In one of the videos from my pulls I saw 200hp come up on the dyno display. (Stil waiting for that dyno sheet). So that would mean about 100hp loss in my drive train. I could only find about 50-60hp loss from a 4L80E online. Untill I found this article.

    https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/ccrp-0311-drivetrain-power-loss/

When I get my dyno charts on the mail, Ill share them here for comparison.

well....the results are in...and the power lost in the driveline is a lot bigger then I expected.

The rear axle was 174hp and the calculated power at the engine 309hp, by adding driveline losses measured by the dyno.

So I'm loosing something like 40% in the driveline? damn....thats a lot.

I talked shortly to the dyno operator. And he said that the dyno was calibrated just a month before, so the results should be accurate.

Think of the loss less in percentages and more like an absolute loss. Once you make 50% more power on boost you will likely still lose about the same amount as you are losing now. Don’t worry about numbers really busy trends of gains and losses.
