Yeah, that's for button launch and slip control. The Holley will control it at button release with a 2 stage timer. One timer to get to the hit sweet spot, the second for how long it stays there.

How do you adjust the slip control?

It just happened, wasn't planned! And the Ranger is my son's,...although I would like to buy it from him. :mmm:

At button - and clutch - release, the "start delay" timer will time, when it ends, the solenoid will activate and stop the clutch from releasing any more. This spot being the best balance of "hit" for the tires/drive line. Then the 2nd stage "active time" timer will determine how long it stays there. Will take some time to get it dialed in.

Here's a rough draw on the wiring:

The "Launch Arm" switch and relay will allow a single steering wheel button to activate the line lock for burn out and then both brake/clutch for stage/launch.

I have a clutch tamer on my cable clutch, so I get the basics of hit and delay. Is the Holley putting out a PWM? Is the solenoid a standard line lock? Is there jet in the line?

Standard Hurst LL solenoid. No jet in line. Not PWM output. I've never tried this set up before,so we'll see if it works. Looking at some of the available clutch controls, I got the idea I could do the same with the Holley.

I look forward to seeing how you do it and how it works. I see it working like a transbrake hit the button, it opens the LL. I am having a hard time understanding how it will be able to adjust the slip.

Try this: at button/solenoid release the throw out bearing is releasing the clutch . The first stage timer also started at button release. The first stage timer will then activate the solenoid again and stop the throw out bearing from releasing further. This will adjust the amount of slip. Same as your foot was on the pedal and holding/slipping the clutch. The second stage timer will determine how long the solenoid is activated, controlling how long the clutch is at that slip point.

Curious as to why you didnt go with a auto trans on a build like this? But im glad you didnt and that this topic has come up because I never knew there was clutch control devices like these! I am now interested and have something new to do research on. A stick was a must have on my list when buying my fox but now that I have turbo'd it and ABSOLUTELY suck at launching it at the track I sometimes wish it was auto, but for as much as I street drive the car I still want it to be stick because its soooo much more fun. Thinking a device like this could help me suck less lol.
Russell I am interested in the setup you have going but dont want to muck up Brians thread with details on it. If you have time PM me some info and pics or whatever you can, or maybe put something in your thread about it so I can check it out there.

^ My last vehicle, Ford Lightning, was an auto and I got board with it. Have always preferred to shift myself!

Off subject. What was your best time with the Lightening? Was it a mostly stock shortblock?

Shortblock was factory stock. TFS heads, cam, intake, and 20 psi. 10.26/134 at 4300lbs. I'm convinced it had a 9 sec pass in it,but the itch to sell kicked in.

Its crazy how far the stick shift (h-Pattern) drag times have progressed in the last few years. a syncro trans is a bit of a disadvantage for all out drag racing but still plenty capable of running thru this combo. between clutch technology, electronics, and suspension knowledge you should be able to make this thing fly. Grannas supra, tick performance grubworm camaro, Minion cobra, cole-man customs s10, real teal cobra, etc, have proven what these stick cars are capable of now.

^ It is crazy how fast the stick cars are going!

Figure I'll see how things go with the unmodified T56M and if needed make some changes. I'd be fine with face plated 1-2,2-3,3-4 gear sets,I think,LOL. The G Force gears are supposedly only slightly noisier than the Tremec gears.

I have almost 50k miles on a faceplate tko600 on the street. Takes some getting used to and minor regular maintenence every few years but reasonable.
