So I have a 1994 Toyota pickup with a 5vz swap and turbo kit. I want it to whistle but I can’t seem to get to. It has a gt35 60 A/R 68 inducer and 62 exducer 10 blade turbine wheel I also have an x pipe on the exhaust. Any thoughts on how to make it whistle?

Yes Bikes usually are loud but they are smaller vehicles that are often overlooked by idiots in cars not paying attention to the road. I don’t know how it is by you but it’s not smart to ride a quiet bike.

 

Holsets and Borgs in general seem to make more whistling than Garretts.

There is a mod called the T51r compressor mod that companies offer, makes an insane jet spooling sound... They machine your compressor inlet and press in a sleeve that resembles the old T51r turbo housing

 

Spoken just like one of those Harley guys...lol. Loud pipes are not the problem, and don't need to be justified, it's the idiot on the seat.

 

Like fender exhaust exit on a 400 HP car.

 

Not everyone wants full exhaust, or they want the simplicity of a fender exit, be it 400, or 2000hp. I'm willing to bet that obnoxiously loud is not the goal of a majority of them.

 

I had a buddy that wanted more turbo whistle on his dodge diesel, so he ended up removing the "silencer ring" from the turbo. That ended up spiraling into a street driven compound setup. If you want more turbo whistle go compound with a modern BW turbo for your low pressure. As a side effect you will have all the boost you need.

 

To the OP: when we slapped the turbodiesel engine in my W115 Mercedes, we did not have an exhaust for it, so we just ran a pipe to the side. You could hear that turbo pretty well.

 

I have a neighbor that I call the bitch rev king. Back when I was into choppers that’s what we called chopping the throttle to make noise, it’s just a bitch rev.

 

My personal favorite is the ultra loud stereo, on the bike, at distortion volume, with the constant revving, in the grocery store parking lot. Those guys are so bad ass, I just want to be them!
