    Hi!
I am building a Ford big block 466cui
    Ford motorsport scj heads
    Around 9.5:1 compression ratio
    I have bw s471 t6 88mm 1:32a/r
My plans are 1000hp at crank
    Mostly street driving it
I guess i have to change my compressor wheel and house
    To around 80mm.
Im starting playing around with bw matchbot
What do you guys think about this:

Its okay for a street strip combo, but pushing the limits of the turbine. A 1.58 turbine housing might be a good idea if sticking with the 96mm turbine wheel. You'll want at least the 80, the 85, or 88mm compressor would be better if updating.

It might be ok with the 88, are you really running it out to 7k? Do you know what the base engine power is?

It all hinges on your na hp, and getting that right in matchbot, It will skew everything if off. I think the minimum that you'll want is a S488 with the 96mm 1.32, and i'd probably look at the 1.58, and this is based on a mostly street setup. A S500 based turbo would be much better if looking for anymore than a real responsive big torque setup.

Correct. The application will dictate what compromises are made for where you want to be on the compressor map. Main operating points OFF the efficiency islands ("off the map") is almost always bad.

Matchbot is a great program....however without extensive testing it is almost impossible to input accurate data. Thus....garbage in...garbage out.....

I recommend for starters using the 10 lb/min per 100 hp rule of thumb (on gasoline) is best for for beginning enthusiast....

Example: goal of 1000 hp with a 500 hp NA engine.......500 hp= 50 lbs/min of air at a pressure ratio of 1....to hit 1000 hp you must double the mass air flow .....so 100 lbs/min at a pressure ratio of 2....this point should fall somewhere on the efficiency islands.

    Just my opinion

Try dividing by 2 and sizing twins.....you will have more options.

2 S472 will likely fit well on the map. Depending on your spooling goals they may or may not be a good turbo for the application

Here is an updated matchbot that matches your HP estimates. https://www.borgwarner.com/matchbot...wts=400&pt6_wd=83&pt6_wd2=74&pt6_wrsin=92044&

Here it is set up for twin s472 https://www.borgwarner.com/matchbot...wts=400&pt6_wd=83&pt6_wd2=74&pt6_wrsin=92044&

Twins look like a better fit. I still think a single 88mm will get it there. It may not be as efficient but if that's what you can package then I wouldn't sweat it. You can probably get into a pair of s300s in 63+mm and do it too. They are a little smaller and require a smaller downpipe.

Getting this package to spool with some laziness could be a good tactic on a street car. If your full boost by 3k the torque hit is going to be hard on parts, tires and the driver. The responsiveness can be a nightmare on the highway, when you go from cruising to all in at the snap of the throttle trying to pass someone things get sketchy. Your NA engine will have enough power to burn off any set of street tires at will.

I agree.....a pair of S366's will likely be a good affordable, easier to package solution. I suggested the twin S472 because he already had one.
