Hey guys just was wondering and wanted to discuss the benefits, pros and cons of a split port intake install on my 04 3.8 mustang turbo build. Holla at me.

The windstar splitport intake is worth 10hp and 15ftlbs over the mustang splitport. You probably can pick up a few more with some portwork. Moranav6racing.com also makes aftermarket intakes for your engine
    Also.

On your car no since it’s splitport already. Iirc the windstar intake has a little more runner length compared to the mustang version . It probably will need some modifications to run the windstar like some wire lengthening, longer throttle cable etc. Is 10hp/ 15ft lbs na (20hp/30ft lb with boost) worth it to you.
Even though the windstar upper intake may be lighter and can dissipate heat better than the aluminum upper mustang intake will it handle boost pressure idk. I’m sure the aluminum mustang upper will though.

Spend the money/time on the turbo kit. Keep it simple and add boost. If it were na, then it would maybe worthwhile.

Worse thing if you don’t do the windstar intake you add another pound of boost to make up for it. When I worked at Ford I seen a few backfire thru the intake and blow holes in em. I’m sure it was a lot more pressure than it would see with boost

I have 2 Windstar intakes in my shop. I bought one to use, and a spare just in case I did mess one up. I have read a bunch of different things about them, and some have been successful running high amounts of boost, and some have cracked at 14-16lbs. I think some of the ones that did crack was dependent upon the vehicles reason for being in the salvage yard it come from in the first place i.e., already stressed from the accident or running hot.
