Hello what you guys think is possible with twin eBay gt45s on a bbc 502

with the eBay t4 eBay gt45s what would the max power be I want to push this combo as hard as I can in a drag race application.

It's hard to say . It all depends so much on the power your engine makes na and other various components that leave to much up in the air . If each turbo in a perfect world can flow enough to support 600 hp and your engine displacement were dead on to mate up with the pressure ratio required to make effecenty you should be able to attain 1200 hp from a pair of them. But it's not a perfect world and we don't know if you will run out of rpm before you run out of map or vice versa.

 

Stock the 502 was rated at I think 450hp 500tq with 8.5 1 comp

i have 10:1 ported heads and a Nasty solid roller I think the motor should be making 550-600 fwhp

Those turbos will support 650whp.

 

If your tuning skills is up to par, the 502 will probably take all those turbos have to offer. I have a pair on a 10:1 aluminum headed BBC on e85, hoping for 900-1000whp

 

I'm all for you finding out for us! Seems like they run out of steam around 650 on the 5.3 builds. 73runabout has a pair on his 351. They aren't making as much power as his old S480lb for lb.

 

I saw his build and have checked in on it from time to time I wonder what boost he is running with the twins and is a cam and converter swap needed.

This car has a single gt45 and a mild 5.3

 

Runs pretty good! Does it weigh 2600lbs?

 

And which gt45? From what i've seen, the gt45's are giving up a fair bit of hp when compared to a current design (BW, Gt series Garrett..ect. Denmah did some back to back dyno runs) The 68mm's are a great budget turbo though.

 

Did you ever go forward with this build? I’m looking at doing a very similar build with my 502. Curious to see how it works out, and considering the GT45 68mm units, or a VS racing Borg clone with 75mm cast compressor wheel and 96mm turbine 1.32 AR.

But since I think my block will limit me to about 1,300-1,400hp, I *think* the GT45’s should about get me there?

 

The op hasn't been active on the site for over a year, but there are a couple BBC's here running twin 45's with good results.

i read these turbos make 800 hp. i'm thinking about upgrading from my T70. it makes 650 hp, so if the gt only makes 650, it's not worth it

 

Yeah I read that also. If running a single, maybe go with a bigger turbo like an s475 which is good to about 1,000hp? What do you have the turbo on? An LS?
