It's been a busy couple weeks!, I got the car finished and put on the dyno. Ran into a few bugs so I wasn't able to turn it up as hoped but it was a success none the less. We only got a couple test passes in but it's definitely pointed in the right direction. The new Internal Dump valve FTI Transmissions hooked me up with is amazing! It spools better than before even with a way tighter converter in the car now. We went and raced this last weekend. Doubled entered in Extreme Street and 28/29 class. I knocked the tires off about 100' out in the semis in ES and fought our way thru the field in 28/29 and came home with the win. with the track being no prep it was a tuners race for sure!

Thanks guys. I'm going to test tonight and see if we can get her rolling on a prepped track. I was impressed at the drive shaft speed last weekend considering the amount of timing I was pulling. It ran a personal best mph for sure. If all goes well I'll make a 6hr haul to the panhandle for a NT True Street class.

Added an American Flag decal to the roof of the car. Couldnt get a good pic of it but we love it!. I hurt another set of ring gears. Luckily I caught it before it completely went to shit. I'm only getting 60-70 passes out of these. I need to quit procrastinating and build a 9".

What are you using for pinion depth and backlash specs? Are you using a ford gear or another manufacturer?

Seems like when a ring gear becomes a "routine maintenance item" its time to get a bigger ring gear.

I went up to NC a couple weeks ago for the Charlotte Street Take Over. What a joke that was but the high light of the trip was when we went to a Carolina NT race at Piedmont Dragway to do some testing. It was pretty impressive to say the least. Made three licks and each one was a new personal best. I was pretty happy considering the amount of ramp that was in it and the not so aggressive tune up. I cant wait for the rain to go away so I can get back out and test and turn her loose now that were getting some suspension issues squared away. After that pass I also figured out why it wouldn't make big boy boost. I'm sooo excited to turn her up!!

Nice pass! What gear ratio are you running? I got most of the parts for my build so after everything gets balanced this week I’ll be starting the build process myself. If you have any tips, thoughts are “Don’t do’s” please let me know :)

Assuming a 29" tall tire (actually, a 28" tire but allowing for growth at the top end) you are spinning the motor about 8300 rpm. That about right??
