I removed a "small" chunk from the BA/BF front sump oil pan. I also removed the front sway bar.

I know someone is going to ask why I modified a BA/BF front sump pan after going through the effort of getting a FG rear sump pan. I decided that I can modify the BA/BF pan without worrying about screwing it up since I have an extra. I have to notch the FG pan also. Doing it this way allows me to make the motor mounts and pin down the engine left/right and front/back. I'll modify the FG pan after the motor mounts are made. This way I cut it once and wont have to tweak it later if the motor mounts create an issue. I am probably being overly cautious but each oil pan costs me $300 USD after its shiped halfway across the world.

Now it fits, even with the steering rack in place.

IT FITS! The stock hood even closes (barely but that still counts). I am probably going to space the k-member down with 1 inch spacers. This should improve hood clearance, and help with my drive line angle a little. I'd like to see the motor "tilt" a little forward, nose down another 2 0r 3 degrees. 1 inch spacers are not going to give me any handling issues. I'll be able to adjust the suspension with back into spec. Adjustable coil overs, caster/camber plates, offset steering rack bushings and bump steer eliminators are common mods already really common. I have 3/4" spacers in my 5.4 4V 96 Cobra and it handles like its on rails.

It’s looking good are you gonna add spacers to lower the sway bar ?

Once I switch to the rear sump oil pan I'll know what needs to happen with the sway bar. I dont even know if the sway bar will be able to go back on.

I'm not sure if this is allowed, if it is not please let me know and I will remove this post.

I have several projects going on along side of The Red Stallion. I share the progress of all of my builds on my FaceBook page. Please like and share it with your friends.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here, but every time I try to post the link it doesn't work. Just search Nieves Speed Shop on facebook.

Tuff Mounts in Australia is working on a bolt-in Barra swap kit for the Fox body platform. They just purchased a Mustang about a month ago or so for kit development. Should be a really nice kit when it's done.

Keep up the good work! Awesome thread!

I've been keeping up with that build. It really sucks man, I started a month before them, but I have to wait weeks to get parts like the oil pan. They just go on Gumtree and they have it same day. :apologetic: so I lost my lead.

Honestly I'm just happy to see more Barra swapped Mustangs.

    Thanks for following along.

I've just started keeping up with this thread. Very interesting build. I had a friend that used to make sheet metal custom oil pans for folks. He made some wild stuff.

I have (still am) considered making a custom oil pan. The problem with a custom pan on the barra is it's a stressed member. The oil pan has bolts that go through the pan into the mains and acts as a girdle. A custom pan is doable, just takes more effort.

    Thanks for following along.

Awesome thread!! I'm actually also doing a very similar swap at this moment. Except I'm using an Intech 4.0L and putting into my super sleepy 78 Zephyr BoxTop. So, I have two questions. How much for one of those FG pans? and Can I have the CAD drawing for the trans adapter? I have been struggling with the transmission question for a while. I really wanted to run a 4r70w with a stand alone controller, but as you know no one makes the adapter. I even considered cutting off the bellhousing how the BBF guys do when the run the AOD. This would then require an adapter that bolts up to the pump and gets out to another housing. Not pretty. The other option is what I'm leaning toward right now, which is to run a C4 with the 2.20 first gear set from proformance. The problem with that is that I wouldn't have an overdrive and I'd be limited to 1000hp. The big advantage there is that I can keep my stock column shifter, which adds to the sleeper effect.

Also, did you know the folks over at Tuff Mounts are building their own Barra powered Fox and plan to release extremely over priced mounts?

I'm doing an Intech swap as well. Let me know if you need any help with engine parts. I had some custom stuff made by Manley, and can share my job numbers with you if you want to have the same parts made. I also had a torque plate made if you need to borrow it when you get to the machining portion (assuming you're building the engine). I have a thread here as well. Feel free to hit me up.

(Apologies to the OP for my thread hi-jack.)

Quicktime actually makes the best C4 to Barra/Intech bellhousing. this way you can run a standard c4 flexplate and convertor.
if i can workout how to post a pic i`ll show you my Quicktimes c4 barra

I have been following along with your build, I'ts looking great! I am making an adapter plate to use the mod motor bolt pattern so I have more transmission options. This will be a street car that will eventually go to one of my daughters, so I cant go too overboard.

Cool build! Love the idea of boltingpan to trans and making the mods that way. Need to see more pics of your son helping!

It's an aluminum manifold for a temperature sending unit. You can see the sending unit threaded into the top of the block. Most folks put the sending unit in the pan, but this method is equally effective.

Big news everyone! I finally have all the equipment necessary to start building my YouTube channel.

I have already started filming on one of my projects. I'm in the process of editing the footage I have and will have episode 1 of the 1987 El Camino 6.0 LS swap.

I'll have some footage showing me modifying the Barra oil pan for my Foxbody.

Subscribe to my channel. Once I have 100+ subscribers I can get a custom URL that will be a lot easier to find.

Obviously I am just starting this, so plese bear with me and hopefully my channel will grow fast with good quality car content.
