Sold my foxbody back in October. Just picked this up new year's day. Clean, well maintained, until the local garage did a tune up and forgot to put oil back in. The girl I bought it from didn't make it very far until the engine started knocking horribly. I Got it bought for $400. I'm going to start collecting parts for an LS turbo swap. image%3A31898.jpg #ad

Nice looking car. Could make a nice sleeper out of that 6 cylinder mustang . Could widen the rear wheels and leave the puny single tailpipe in place and make the exhaust real quiet on that LS engine

Sleepers are neat, just not my style. I'm going to put some champion beadlock rears on and undecided for fronts. I'll drive it with the V6 while I'm collecting parts. I think I'll enjoy it much more that way than diving in head first on a driveline swap.

I really like the '99-'04 body. That car will look really nice with some Champion beadlocks on it. The nice thing about an LS swap is that you're still keeping a Ford-based engine in the car, too. :chuncky:

Haha, I'm sure some die hard Ford guys hate this sort of build. As far as cars go, I can't afford to be unique and hotrod on true classic cars. The reason I chose this as a platform....

    1. 99-04 mustangs are all over the place for cheap
    2. You can fit huge tires with minimal work to the chassis/body
    3. Still pretty light weight.
    4. Suspension parts are plentiful
    5. LS engines are more plentiful than the cars themselves.
    6. Virtually endless support from both the Ford and GM sides.

Looks like a nice car. Let them hate. The ls swaps are everywhere but.... it's for good reasons, they're simple, durable, and cheap. I'm doing my first all Mopar build, and could have 3 LS's.... It also wasn't all that many years ago that the Ford 5.0 was swapped into most everything.

Meh, don't sweat the purists. If they want to hate, tell them to pound sand and do what ever they want with their own car.

After all, mix and matching brands is what early hot rodding was all about. Maybe these LS swaps are just a modern throwback.

I used to be a Ford purist but those Chevy LS engines are hard to beat. All you need now is a bumper sticker that says “Built Ford Tough with Chevy Stuff” to boil some Ford blue blood lol

The only thing uniquely Chevrolet about the LS engine family is the connecting rod bearing and the lifter. Whether intentional or not, the LS engine is the logical evolution of the Ford Windsor platform along with a sprinkling of a few other Ford features dating as far back as the early 1960's:

    - Cylinder head port layout: Ford Windsor
    - Bore spacing: Ford Windsor
    - Injector angle & spacing: Ford Windsor
    - Non-adjustable bolt-down valvetrain: Ford Windsor
    - Oiling system: Ford Modular
    - Cross-bolted main caps: Ford FE

The resemblance of the LS platform to a Ford engine is uncanny; so much so that it bears nearly nothing in common with its small block predecessors.

Maybe.... but Gm did it so much better than Ford ever did...lol. I do like Fords new lineup of engines though, I would buy one again.[/QUOTE]

100% agree. Mostly I like to bring up those points to irritate LS fanboys. :-D It's an amazing platform regardless. The LS platform has breathed much needed life into the automotive aftermarket industry, and also has made hot rodding in general more accessible and relevant to a huge demographic of people. Just like folks made their Fords faster on the cheap by swapping in 265's, 283's, and 327's starting back in the '50's, the LS platform has helped history repeat itself today. As long as people are modifying their cars and having fun doing it, that's all I really care about (well... and maybe jabbing LS fanboys once in a while).

Yep, makes hot rodding affordable for a lot more people.

We did a New Edge last year. It was an electric green GT. Those cars LS swap so easy its not even funny. No hammering the tunnel for a TH400, and the suspension works much better than on the fox for some reason (I know its the same suspension). Ours has been 1.30 to 60' with nothing more than adjustable shocks and southside lowers. And none of that ridiculous lean that a fox gets with no ARB. It leans a bit, but nothing like a fox or G body.

Nothing worth posting pictures yet, but I did score a 52,000 mile V6 from a crashed mustang, and has a 90 day warranty. So we put that engine in today (runs great now). Going to order my champion wheels this weekend, then I'll have a good looking and reliable car to drive while I'm collecting parts.

That's gonna look sweet. I have nittos on my Buick and I really like them for what they are. Nowhere in the same area code as a 275 pro, but much better than a plain old hard tire.

To be honest I got the nittos because I couldn't stomach putting a normal street tire on a beadlock race wheel. Nittos seem to wear really well, and they will be on a V6 car for now, they will have an easy life.
