It is but I was at a no prep night so I was just foot braking, using the anti lag to get the boost up. The soft limiter is set about right and the hard limiter was to low which is where you hear the spark events cut and the popping. First time out with it and with all the other issues I didn't care to adjust that. Was building 9-11 psi off the foot brake

    Awwwww , ok .

I was gonna say , i fyour on the trnsbrake that would be unnecessary .

If its making 9-11 psi , that would be plenty if the converter is right . Should be making good power at 11 .

My truck at 4500lbs has sixty footed 1.27 leaving on 11 and 4200 rpm .

Well didn't feel like driving an hour north to use the lift so did it on my back in the driveway...... not as fun as it looks.

    Converter is headed back.

Update time. Truck went 10.9x at 121 on 14.5 psi of boost a few weeks back. Truck also weighs 3505 with me in it. Boost controller I was using wasn’t brining boost up any more for a shot at deeper 10s

I also have since then started collecting parts for a winter build. I’ll be short bed frame and box swapping my cab and good parts. As well as cage, and sbe 351w with the 210 procomps and Vic jr efi Knock off that i already have. May try and get a different trans setup sourced out since mine is fresh and c4s suckkkk. Gm trans likely.

Likely follow in the footsteps of mr reiners/Moffitt with the 351w build and see where it goes, want to try and lighten the truck a couple hundred pounds as well.

Going to enjoy driving the truck a couple more weeks as is then rip it apart.

I tried to give a nice lengthy update but it never posted.... so I got my 10 second pass on 15 psi (couldn’t go any higher with boost controller that day). Truck weighs 3505. Bought another ranger that’s a short bed with a mint frame to put my cab on. Started collecting parts for a stock bottom end 351w setup (heads, studs, elbow, boost controller, and others), will be doing a cage as well this winter and see where it goes. I gave good detail in the last post just ask if you have questions

I saw your post on the V8 ranger swap page on FB. Pretry freaking sweet. I just bought a 351 as well with a C6.

Cool! Looks like the hard work is starting to pay off. A couple things that would be good to plan for on the next truck would be to get the fuel tank & battery moved to behind the axle. My Two Cents, Lorne

    Little guidance inquiry:
New engine is a sbe 351w, 210cc procomps that have been upgraded, Vic jr 4150’style Intake, has 327 gears and a loose converter (3100 ft brake and way higher on transbrake)

    Debating turbo purchases.

Vs racing 80mm billet s480 clone

A second (have one on the truck) 7665 from vs and buying 2 .68 housings for them.

Goal 135+++ and 9.99 for next year. Street driven on weekends and to car meets. Not afraid of a little lag.

Truck issues, ranger frame rails are narrow as heck, couldn’t even fit my current 3.5” downpipe in between the rails, so a 4 inch neck down even on the s480 won’t be close and would have to be outside the rails and dump. I would like to quiet it down some as open downpipe has been fun but crazy loud. Twin I could likely fit them with some sort of muffler and bring them back a ways.

    Any input?

Twin would definitely be better in that sense. You could most likely get two 3 inch downpipes going to a 3 inch dual x pipe exhaust and straight back or to the sides.

Lag isn't as bad with an automatic, but lag does suck the fun out of driving it on the street. Unfortunately, I don't have any turbo recommendations.

If you run single, I believe you can just run the exhaust behind the fender and out towards the back on the outside of the frame in between the rocker panel. This would allow you to run a muffler there.

Can you do something with ovaling the down pipes (they do make ovaled pipe, it's specialty but it may be worth it for a short run.)

Also, chances are you're running out of turbine. I could see the S480 being worth the extra bucks you're using depending. Twin wise, the 76es seem top heavy unless you're planning on a lot faster than 9.99s.

Your MPH and ET seem to match up well plus your 60 foot makes it like your combo is doing well at this time in the powertrain department.

Twin 60s or 66es are where I'd be looking just due to the plumbing concerns in your case. With a pair of 3" DPs you'll be able to break 1K no sweat which means tons of head room for later.

I ran a s400 based turbo on my 1983, and ran 4" from the turbo back. I went outside the frame on the pass side, under the cab, and back inside the frame to the bumper. It tucked up nicely, was barely noticeable, and cleared a 245/45/17 tire at full turn without issue.

Well the new frame is stripped ready to start chassis work, lots to do. Bought a cell and didn’t look at it was advertised as a 12 gal and it’s only a 8 gal, and no sump so I will be needing to purchase a new one. Plan is twin 380 aem pumps inline and pump with upgrading the methanol setup. Unless I find a lot more money to switch this year since I would need to buy new injectors and a bunch of other shit.

Also ordered stuff to do a bump box for 50 bucks, ssr and a timer.

351w parts collection-aka chop stick speed inc. Intake, main studs, head studs and girdle purchased. Bought the elbow off another member

Plan to rewire the entire truck cab and strip out all the factory wiring/bullshit. Getting rid of factory cluster as well in favor of a gps speedo and other stuff. Factory cluster is missing s bunch of working gauges

Got a free x cam with the parts truck, maybe try to trade it for an f cam.

    Some end of season fun.

I’m going to be ditching the sway bars I have for a anti roll bar and doing other suspension changes. Does anyone have any interest in hearing my annoying voice do overviews as I build this winter? Or should I continue using this place as an archive only hahah.
