what s the smallest 2 stroke snowmobile you guys have put a turbo on?? i have some buddies with newer sleds that

want to put a turbo on one ,, i have no idea how to tune a two stroke,, so i thought id buy an older sled and put a turbo on

and let er buck (blow up my own shit instead of sombodys high dollar stuff),, just curious what you guys are using??

 

700cc is the smallest i've turbo'd, but had plans for a 440 that I never got started on.

 

couldnt ya look at what some of the sled manufactures are using for turbos since theres quite a few models coming from the factory with them now

 

I believe all of the newer turbo sleds are 4 strokes....... very different than 2 strokes of equal cc.

 

ya overlooked that- ski-doo isnt doing anything turbo with there direct inject two stroke?

So did you ever do anything. Thinking of turbo on my1992 AC prowler. 440. I have a turbo off a 1.3 so I think it should be close.

You're better off sizing the turbo to the n/a hp vs engine size. The compressor is pretty easy to size using a map, but the turbine is a bit tougher. Any wheel sizes, or compressor map for your turbo?

I have to open it up and measure it. Brand new left over from testing. Is for a 1.3 GM product. Garrett

I built this thing for my 16yr old kid.
It has an aircooled 340cc yamaha engine, force fed by the smallest Hitachi turbo I have ever seen. RHB31
It's a draw through setup, using the stock butterfly carb.

Feels like it could be about 65-75hp when it jumps the pipe.
The chassis is very, very light, but as I still haven't got the off idle stumble off it, so we haven't had it on the track yet.

My kid said we should just give it a shot of nitrous to get it going! haha

I have to experiment with the clutches to get it to lock up a little further up, but just haven't had the time.
