I have been contemplating installing a remote mount turbo under the bed on my truck. Its a 1991 7.3 IDI and don't want all the extra underhood heat. My main stumble on this project is what would be the best oil system setup for this. What experiences or advise does anyone have. Thanks

Turbowerx seem what a lot of people use.
I use the cheaper Ebay variant, for 1 year now.

Thanks I have seen their pumps. I have been trolling on oil burners.com and have seen where people are using the factory fuel pump to scavenge oil back from turbo. I would think the electric pump would be the best option. I have seen several threads on here that are using the turbowerx pump. Just wondering about its longevity for a daily use application.

Whatever you choose, a fuelpump is just not meant for hot oil in my opinion.

We have used a marine grade fuel transfer pump with brass gears and has worked flawlessly has nice isolated mount bracket so it is quiet and sports 3/8 npt threaded intake and outlet ports our turbo was mounted low and would not drain properly to the pan added this pump and we are two years trouble free daily driving on a home brew 2.3 ford mustang with intercooled blowthru carb setup currently running 7 psi.

You can also run a 2-4 liter oil tank in the back under the turbo that is gravity drained. Then supply a pump from that sump to supply pressurized oil to the turbo. Keeps the turbo oil completely separate from the engine oil. This allows you to use a more turbo friendly oil with zero risk of contaminating the oil from the engine damage.

Out of curiosity what pump would this setup use? Id have to think a lot more options for pumps compared to the traditional return side pumps since its not pumping super hot oil.

Yes this is the exact style of scavenge pump we have used but half the price key is brass gear pump ad not rotary vane style fuel pump. This style pump is used as a diesel oil transfer pump in the marine industry so it is designed for oil and not gas.
