No new times for the china turbo yet, haven't had a chance to take it to the track. Wife, and kids been keeping me busy, an occasional cruise between tuning, and maintenance has been it for me.

Im running e85 on this combination, water temperature runs about 175 / 180 driving around town using the factory waterpump. After about a half hour of driving the carb hat gets 145 degrees, shooting it with a laser thermometer, carb about 120 at the venturies, thats todays readings driving in 90 deg weather. I also spray washer fluid after the turbo, it switches on at 6 psi with the hobbs switch and relay. Im happy with how cool it runs on e85, here it's 1.95- 2.30 a gallon average. It ran 11.60 with the hx 40, it has way more power with the gt45 but havent taken it to the track yet.

Spraying the water/meth pre-turbo will give you several benefits spraying post turbo doesn't. Actually makes the turbo more efficient... On a setup with no IC no reason not to IMO. You're gonna like e85!

That is a "standard issue", '70's Right manifold used on most 350-400's turned upside down. There are various part numbers & slight variations of the heatshield/stiffener rib...some with air pump holes & some without. I believe it was first used in '69 & was used up until the early '80's on 3/4 ton trucks & vans. Flyinhillbilly has likely thrown away a bunch of them over the years.

Here is a replacement one for reference. I can't state ANY knowledge of the durability of the cast on these particular ones, but at least gives you a guide of what you are looking for to duplicate his set-up. Lorne https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rnb-674-202/applications/make/chevrolet

Haulin IT has it right, just a regular pass side manifold, from a 70 era chevy with an( industrial supply house) butt weld elbow, welded to the stock 3 bolt flange minus the factory heat riser. Then a t4 flange welded to the other side, a factory y pipe attached to the driver side manifold and cut off after the oil pan, then another 90 degree pipe welded to the other port on the flange to a short stub and 2 more factory 3 bolt flanges with a short connector pipe running below the flipped manifold 90` down by the starter and joined to the pass side pipe. Junkyard or craigs or the wanted section on the forum here, somebody probably has one for sale cheap . I added the wastegate later by using a 1 inch holesaw at the merge of the t4 flage. Im running a swapmeet find 40 fin merge.jpg #ad
mm gate and it controlls boost to 12 psi just fine. The very first page of my build shows the elbow and second port tube. Hope this helps.John merge start.jpg #ad

Ok, i have an update on this build.Been busy with work ,family ect... and it suddenly was November3 last midnight madness of the year and i havent took it to the track all year so..... gt45 time edit.jpg #ad
Loaded up the car on trailer after work, got e85 fuel, grabbed some tools and headed out to track, hoping i wouldn't break anything. The car handled like crap, was able to stay in it for one run , ran 11.31 @124 . Second run got a better 60 foot and let off going to 3rd with a 7.14 1/8 mile @99mph. Third run the posi quit . Not all that impressive of a night but with a last minute decision to go still had a great time. The next morning i checked the alignment and it had 1/2 inch toe out,no wonder it was all over the place. I guess after replacing the lower control arm bushings this summer and lowering the car i overlooked checking out how it changed the front end. When i replace the clutches in the posi unit , and get the front end dialed in this winter, it should do better next spring. Maybe i'll bump up the boost to 15psi . The 69mm gt45 is still doing fine on this gen 1 old school sbc. This 355 sbc turbo is definitely a lot of fun lol.

The gt45’s a beast for the money! Probably pumping hot air if you turn it up much more though. Glad you got it out one more time! Need a nice 1.32 T6 S475 on that sucker to let it breath… The china copies are down to $450 shipped now.
