Honestly this is the first time I've ever seen anything like this. I'll probably slam another stock replacement set in and see if it happens again. If it does then I'll definitely do something different.

Yep. Piece them together, blow them to shit, repeat process. Zero fucks given.

That sucks about the chain, hopefully not too much extra damage to the valvetrain. The chain Pete talks about is the one i have in my motor, seems well made. Who knows, maybe the keyway cracked first on the crank and stretched the chain, causing the carnage. Speedy recovery, there's more muddin' that needs to be done.:drive:

Put the new timing set in and started it. Yep, rattled like hell on one stinking valve so I yanked the heads.

Damn. Sorry to see the bent valve.
What would cause the chain to break? Hopefully it was just a bad chain. I've never seen a low mileage chain break. They always have 200k+ miles before they break.

My guess is that the crank gear lost a tooth that stayed in the chain and rode over the cam gear.
That would explain the way the timing cover is swelled too.

Thank you, I am having a hell of a lot of fun with this thing. It has became a lot if work from time to time, but you'll have some of that with any turbo toy I think.
