Mine lasted aprox 11 mi over 3 days lol . Was threw no fault of the turbo. I took a junkyard car had been 17 years sense last registered and got it running didn't even change the oil. Sounded ok so I changed the oil and built a turbo diy set up drove it around the block and parked it till the weekend and headed over to a friends house 15 mi away and never made it . Lost oil pressure and done .

    What's your story?

Did a junkyard 5.3 in a buddys fox after he blew up his 6.0 testing for a grudge race we started it up drove it around the block like 2 miles put it on the trailer drove to the test spot made one pass with a 250 kit put it back on the trailer went home.next day went to meet up for race car never left the trailer till we got back go the race spot and put 3 rods out the side of the block at the big end during the race still won the race by like 1/2 a csr the guy said he saw it let go and hit the brakes thinking my buddy was going to lose it he rode it to the side of the road so 2 days less then 5 miles

It happens sometimes . I was due ,the first motor I built was 3 different brands of pistons and 4 different sets of rods everything was used. Buddy's dad had a cam laying under his bench I'm like what cam is that the response was I don't know exactly but it's big . Perfect . Set of double hump heads one was 291 with 194 valve and the other was 292 with 202 valve so I got a half set of used valves and they were all different some were stainless some were stock . Had the one head done and slammed it all together. Went to the track and picked up a used carb . Tossed it in a camaro and ran 12.80 in high school. Hell everything I've done to this point except for 2 engines have been slap world or dart heads on a stockish short block and do what it shouldn't . This thing would likely have lived if I had went over it and replaced bearings and rings . What's the fun of that lol

I don't know where you are from, but in my neck of the woods dirt track season is just about over and presently there are a bunch of used 602 crate motors for sale on the cheap. Keep in mind that it very rare for one of these to blow up due to they are low rpm stock engines. Most of them run rev limiters also known as the stock valve springs:) The sportsman guys buy a knew one annually and sell them for about $1500 and the street stock guys sell the two year old motors for $7-800. The 2 year old motors are most generally in good condition and it's becoming quite common to do honejob, rering them and get a new gasket set.

Maybe this more than you want to spend, but I would think it would beat the swap program after 11 miles:/

    Where do you reside?

Shortly out of High school, I decided I wanted to build a 390 Ford...... Bought a Core engine, had it bored, Wiseco pistons, stock crank and rods balanced, Found some C8OE-N cobra jet heads, had hardened exhaust seats installed, springs. BIG lunati cam. Holley Pro-jection(one of the first), offenhouser intake. Got it running, found water in oil, and found out someone missed a cracked block. Got that fixed. Drove it down the road and back. Man, that fucker ran good. Next day it would hardly run. Found out the machine shop machined the seats too deep and there was no metal to support them. Valve seats where loose and nothing could be done. Basicly, Junked as set of vintage cobra-jet heads. All I got out of that machine shop was shoulder shrug.
Built a 460 and didnt look back.

Wisconsin. I have a forged shortblock ready to assemble. I don't have the budget for heads and cam and studs other stuff for a while. So I'm playing with what I can for now .
