While I am into fast bikes (was) and fast cars, an equally enjoyable hobby is home theater. Been into this for easily 2 decades. Always trading/selling and trying newer and better gear. Doing a major upgrade currently, and the entire setup is off line.

Anybody other home theater fans here?

The closest I come is the big screen tv in our bedroom!

I'm a super low buck home theater enthusiast. Too broke to buy the nice stuff. I have managed to garbage pick more than my fair share of fantastic speakers and receivers over the years. Running some nice Klipsch full size mains, some junky JBL bookshelf speaker as a center, some Polk surrounds and a pair of Sony 12" car subs for the low end. :) My 1st gen Panasonic Blu-Ray player is finally losing its mind though. And my Samsung tv doesn't have white whites anymore, they're more purple now. Someday I'll go for a real projector setup.

Most first efforts are modest. But over time it all gradually gets better. I've been upgrading for 20 years, and my setup reflects that. But it was always fun, even in the beginning.

Ahhh yes, the home theater. I do so enjoy modding the living room haha. The most recent upgrade is 2-12" bandpass boxes powered by a Crown 1000w amp at 4 ohm load. My neighbors soooo loathe movie night, hahaha!

I picked up a set of 6 gently used Bose cubes and a Bose center channel speaker off Ebay for $100 5 years ago. Combined with a Infinity PS-8 sub, they rock!!!

Hell ya, if your REALLY into home theater build your own as I did with the help of "DIY sound group" I have two 12" tempest towers (12" mid range) center channel with dual 8's and horn as well as the book shelfs and Boston acoustic for middle rear surround and 2 home made marty cube subs (18" subs) all the surround speakers (except the boston's) are 99db sensitivit which takes very little power to get VERY LOUD. Dennon x4000, oppo bluray, crown 3000 watt amp for subs, and of course a Panasonic zt65 65"plazma which to this day was one of if not still the best tv ever produced period...hows that for horse powa..

    My current setup consist of;

    Esoteric UX-1PI universal disc player.
    Mark Levinson ML-502 pre-amp/processor.
    Krell KAV-1500 5 channel amp.
    Krell FPB-600 sub amp.
Acoustic Zen Silver reference II balanced interconnects.
    Bag End ELF-1 sub processor.
2 Bag End D18E-I sub towers. With the right amp and the ELF-1 processor, these will measure flat to 8 Hz.
Stewart Studiotek G130 microperf projector screen. 141" wide x 60" tall. 2.35:1 ratio.
    JVC RS 56 projector.
Panamorph UH480 Anamorphic lense. Required to shoot full screen 2.35 ratio.
    Panamorph automatic lense transport.
2 Klipsch Corner horns modified with custom ALK crossovers and BMC/Beyma drivers.
2 Klipsch Belle modified with custom ALK crossovers and BMC/Beyma drivers.
B G Radia CC-400 planar center speaker. This is a wall mount (behind screen) speaker. The screen is microperf, which is acoustically transparent.

    A stand alone 240V/60A service.
5 Cinepro Power-Pro 20 technical (balanced) power boxes. Balanced power is +60V/-60V and true ground. Cleanest power there is. No 60Hz hum that all standard wall power has.
    Cinepro staged power on box.

The home theater is in a dedicated 800 sq foot basement. There is no ambient light. Room is getting measured for sound panels and a 2" acoustic ceiling by the end of this year.
