I was there 2 months ago with my buddy's car. They charged him 1300 for a single tune. Hope you have better results.

I am all for a lower cost shop in the Edmonton area for when I do the good engine and a full tune... for now I do not mind paying $125 a pull to get a baseline to work from.

Are you creeping up on it or just going for it?

Creeping up on timing but going high boost level right off the hop... If this were one of my expensive engines i would be more conservative but this engine will be pulled out and replaced if it lives or dies so might as well get some data... I want to see how the hp and tq curve look with the csu carb, custom intake, ported iron heads... Then swapping in a better short block should make the same power but last better.

I have 12 buick 350s, ranging from cores, stock runners, to fully built with billet cranks so I am not concerned.

This engine runs well though and only has 1000 miles so lets see what happens!

Buick version of the "grenade" !

    Sad sad day!!!

I blew the head gasket on the way to the chassis dyno... It was at 22 psi when it blew, stock head bolts, normal gasket, so no dyno numbers... Yanking the engine to get a good in there!

It felt really strong, wish i blew it on the dyno so i got some data but oh well...

Will try next year at the same car show...

Sorry to hear that!! Man that sucks. Did he charge you after it blew? I hope he didn't if he was nice.

A set of Cometics and studs would be an improvement. The Cometic will want a very specific finish on the deck and cylinder heads to work best.

No I did not even get to the dyno, so no cost except the break down...

Next year I will go to the same event its close to my house...

I watched a lot of other cars on the dyno, went back in my truck to see the event.

Highest i saw was 560 in a supercharged mustang and Lots of 450 hp cars made way less than the owners thought...

I didnt see any old muscle cars with turbos, out of the hundreds of cars.

Yes I am just going to move forward. I could just re do the head gasket and lower the boost but i am removing the fiberglass hood, fenders and bumper and pulling the engine so I can clean, clean more and paint everything and put one of my better engines in with forged rods and pistons etc... I have everything I need here.

Sorry to hear Sean, just one more reason to build it bigger and better :)
That seems pretty pricey for dyno pulls , have you called horsepower solutions? When I first tuned my car with the blower, I went there and spent 5 hours making changes and pulls and it was only $500 ish I must have made at least 20 pulls. last time I checked they only charged 130 for 3 pulls and 130/hr for tuning after that.

I decided to take the heads off instead of removing the engine and swapping in a better one... The head bolts were loose about 40 foot pounds so thats likely the main reason for the head gasket failure. Cleaned it all up, new arp studs, new gaskets, torqued up well... Should be good!! i want to get a base line with this junk engine before I move to the better engines.

Got it all back together, just need to add fluids and see how it runs. It is not street legal yet but I am taking it to a friends shop where he has a huge paved area we can test it before we hit the dyno july 28th...

I will video tape the testing, burnouts, and dyno testing ... And i will post the videos on here...

It is coming together, did another coat of gloss black on the frame and underside of the car, getting there!

Fast with class, I am a Ford guy but like all kinds of cars. I got to tune on a couple of local Buicks, it was nice working on something different. Really enjoyed working on them, torque for days. Really like the Olds W-30 Stuff to.
