Before anyone asks, I could have made one or 2 larger pieces for the firewall but this is just what ended up being the easiest at the time and I'm very pleased with it right now. I'll end up welding in a frame on the backside out of some 1/2"x1/2" tube to keep it from warping during final welding and so it doesn't get a gas can affect. Some might be able to tell that I cut my old firewall out and cut too far (didn't know at the time) so I had to do some patch work on that. I ended up getting the firewall from a donor car and using some pieces for patching.

Things take time and there are things you have to do prior to the things you want to.

More importantly glad you got out of the crap job and are happier.

Keep at it man it is coming along.

Thanks man! I'm hoping by the end of this year there will be a lot of additional progress. I've been saying that over the years but now I need to make it happen.

Well, here is my yearly update! I finished welding the firewall and even with attaching a frame to it and welding it very slowly I could not avoid warping the metal. I know there are some other tricks out there to help with that after welding but I left it for now and just need to prime it. I'm working with a guy now that paints cars so hopefully in the next few weeks we will tackle that (have the primer just haven't found time). I did a little more work on the dash so all of the gauges are laid out and holes cut. I decided to change part of the radiator core support because I didn't like how I mounted the radiator and the intercooler. I've got another 4-6 hours of messing with that and I'll have it all done. Once that is done I've decided to stop any additional fabrication on the car and to focus on putting it back together and getting it running. A lot of things I can work on and finish (i.e. dash, rear window tray area etc.) if the car is running and drivable. I've also been saving my pennies for a ride tech suspension setup, hydraulic clutch kit and a few other items.

Keep plugging. You will get there.
Always loved the look of the 70 chevelle. Would have one if I didn't develop brain damage and become a Dodge guy. Lol.

    Thanks for posting up.

Thank you Twin Turbo Skylark- I'm progressing!

Here are a couple pics of my new upper intercooler mount. This one is going to just hold the intercooler in location and I'll be building one underneath that will really take the weight of it. Since the pics I've added some flares (dimples) where the 5 large holes are and I'm going to be adding a "gusset" to the sides. Hopefully I'll have an update with a finished piece tomorrow.

Do you have a shelf or lower mount fabbed for the Icooler? I was looking at similar option for my velle since I also don't use factory hood latch.

I have yet to make the lower mount for the intercooler but it will most likely look just like a shelf. Some sort of aluminum bent at a 90* with bracing since the damn thing weighs more than my radiator. I'll be working on that this week. I was hoping to still be able to use the factory latch but this upper mount might be too high.

It's time for my bi annual update on the car. I've gotten a lot of work done in the last 6 months as you'll see by the pictures. I finished the firewall and started prepping it to seal it after primering it, made new mounts for the intercooler and radiator, made an addition to my radiator core support and started to re-assemble the car. There are still a few things I have to fix and finish but I'm on the path to starting it. Crossing my fingers to start it by my 31st birthday in June.
