Been here since 07...it was ttf.com when I got here. I feel like an OG anyway lol. I used to spend a lot of time here. Too much sometimes. People change, places change, and priorities change. I used to feel at home here.

I still hate the fact that Ford got pissy for the original site being named www.theturboforums.com We were doing ford a favor...

I went through this with Ford on a site, and it boils down to them having their hands somewhat tied with trademark law. Basically if they are aware of infringement and they don't take steps to protect it within a certain number of years (I believe it's 5), they risk losing their trademark. Ford's trademarks are among the most valuable in the world, just the names alone. For example the Ford logo is the second most recognizable trademarked symbol in the world, with Coca Cola being the first. That symbol alone is valued in the billions.

When they approached my company we talked to them about licensing, and they were remarkably easy to deal with, enough that even if the company was broke we could have afforded it. They want to support enthusiast sites, and learned from some early mistakes how to handle the trademark issues (by making licensing easy for enthusiast based web companies).
