Holley HP or dominator. If you even think you MIGHT need the dominator, buy it, you will forget about the money later.

That is the biggest question: What features are you going to use?

I'm not exactly an unbiased source as an advertiser, as this is the system I'm here to promote:

    MS3-Pro Engine Management

The two biggest features on the Dominator are control over drive by wire throttles and 4L60E or 4L80E transmissions. If you need one of those features, it can be a pretty cost effective way to get them. If not, you may not need to spend quite so much.

When it comes to features, the best way to describe how to decide what you need is to think of anything you might want an external black box to control, and see if you can get that built into the ECU. Boost control, two step, trans brake or delay boxes, etc...

    well basically my setup is a strictly track car.. sbc, 10:1 comp,105mm TB, 160# Bosch injectors, GT55-88 turbo, 60mm W/G & BOV, TH400 manual reverse w/transbrake. 33 spline 3.42
gears, Magnafuel pro 750, Magnafuel regulator, A -10 fuel line and -8 return. electric fan & waterpump . other stuff on the car when it was carbuerated were MSD distributor, msd crank trigger, MSD7al2. msd 3 step, multi-step retard.
so my question would be how many I/O would a setup like this need? or any other feature i didnt mention that you experienced EFI Guys think i would need.

The ecu can control your fuel pump operation. If you go with the touch screen it has a virtual touch pad with all you switches listed on the screen, you turn them on and off just like you would a real switch panel. If you go with the dominator you can have the ecu control everything on the car if you would like, with real switches or use the touch screen. If you choose to use the Holley dis, You can get rid of your msd box, 3 step and multi retard, the Holley has all those features built in. If you already have a boost controller you can continue using your current one or use the Holley. If you use your current boost controller it leaves most of the I/o left on the hp, if you decide to use the Holley boost control, dis and want to use the ecu to control your fans and other electronics, get the dominator. There are also other options than the Holley, find the one that fits your needs/budget best.

100% yes. I bought the hp and I would say like most guys, once you find how easy it is to control and use the system, you wind up wanting more I/o than than the hp and wish you bought the dominator. The ams 1000 is an awesome boost controller. If you decide on the Holley it basically has an ams 1000 built in to the software, all you need to do is add the solenoids and add the config to your dashboard and you have boost control. You have to get the solenoids set up but it is not hard. I highly recommend co2, especially on a setup like yours.

You can download the software for free from holleys website if you would like to get a feel for it.

you had previously mentioned something about the holley "dis" what is that? Also i was looking on the holley website. and looking at the dominator system. and tried piecing a system together. ECU 554-114, inj wire harness 558-200,Main wire harness 558-104.. Question is the main power wire harness 558-308 differ from the main wire harness?? also was looking at the ignition harness but couldnt figure that one out being that i have an Msd crank trigger. if im missing anything else to complete this system please feel free to elaborate on what i need..

    Thanks for all the help!!

Prmartin, I'd recommend you ask over at the Holley forums. Danny Cabrel over there is incredibly knowledgable, either is or was a Holley guy, and can directly answer your question. He was a lot of help when I converted my Commander system to an HP ECU

I'll start by highlighting what you already have that an ECU can control.

Wastegate: Can be controlled by the ECU directly, no real need for an AMS1000 unless you really want their touch screen control.
Transbrake: Can be controlled with an input switch and output, at least on an MS3-Pro (not sure about the Holley).
Electric fan and water pump: Each can use one output channel.
3 step: Two inputs, one for launch rev limiter (which may be shared with the transbrake) and one for burnout rev limiter.

Have you consider the Haltech Sport 2000 (if it is non drive by wire) for the money or the Haltech Elite ( drive by wire and 4 cam control) that was released a the SEMA and PRI Shows?
