    Hi all,

I've started work on my datsun project. It's a '71 240z, and the engine in the works is a 6 liter ls motor. Stock rebuilt bottom end except for arp rod bolts, Duttweiler cam (based on and a little hotter than an ls6 cam), and having the top rings gapped a little wider for boost. Heads are stock unported 317 6 liter castings. Turbo is an 80mm with a T6 housing, from a diesel, induction is a csu-prepped Holley hp 830, ignition will be the msd box that lets you use stock ls coils. Trans is going to be a powerglide with about a 3800 rpm stall speed converter (I think, the converter is used and I've never seen it run).

Sounds pretty sweet! I had a 240Z in high school that I swapped a SBC into. That was a fun little car. With the power that is going to make I'm going to assume that you've dumped the IRS for a solid axle.

That's how you make a Datsun run.

Yeah, it's had a couple of small things done to strengthen it up. I've had two 240's previous to this one that had smallblock chevys in them. They're damn hard to beat on the street when set up properly. Both of those cars still had the stock irs in them. One went 6.80's in the 1/8th on pump gas on a 150 shot, the other went high 6.20's on a 300 shot rolling WAY out before hitting it. That car once trapped 152 in the 1/4, before I owned it. The guy that owned it at the time tried to run it in the import faceoff when they came to town. It technically met the rules because at that time the rules stated that the block must not be made in the usa. It had a Mexican cast 350 block. Those chickenshit mofo's flat out refused to let him run it, even when confronted with the fact that their own rules should have allowed it. Next year, the rules had changed so that no domestic engine could run. Anyway, I have a lot of work to do. The short block is built, and the heads are sitting next to it.

That means business. Should be nice, light weight and deadly at the track.

I hope so. It's gonna be a street car though. I'll pull the wheelie bars off, put turn signals on it, and drive it.

The 6 liter is the little motor to get me used to the car. The real motor is gonna take a lot longer to finish.
