SRT 10 RAM

    Getting ready to buy an SRT 10. It has 40k on it and stock everything. The back story.... I was building a kit to go on my Vette and want to put it on the truck but need to know how well this turbo will be with the truck. The goals are low... good DD, street performance, low boost. I know there is more C.I. in the viper motor, and everything I have read claims that the motor is only good to 650 on stock internals. here are the specs on my turbo:

    Name: Benita
    HP: 650-800
    Comp Wheel: HP-78
    Comp Inlet/Outlet: 4.0" / 2.5" Non-Ported Shroud
    Turbine Wheel: F1-68
    Turbine Housing: T4 0.96 A/R
    Turbine Housing Inlet/Outlet: 3" V-Band
    Bearing: Ball Bearing
    P/N: 11535

    Turbine is to small. Way to small.

    what size should i look into? I think i can sell this easy enough and get something more appropriate.

    Two of those would be OK. Check out a BW S480 80mm Compressor wheel, 96mm Tubine wheel, T6 1.32A/R housing.

    If i were to use what i have would it just spool stupid fast and run out at 3k because the turbine wheel is only .68? ( I am trying to understand the dynamics of "too small") also i am only finding the BW s480 in a twin scroll is this restricting for air flow?

    guys are running this S480 on 383CID and running 8's. I am looking at 506 CID 8.4L

    The turbo I posted won't choke your motor and will make enough power to bend every rod you got. The main thing you are looking for here should be a large turbine. The reason I say that is you aren't looking for ahuge increase in HP, so a max effort compressor isn't needed. You just need something that won't choke the engine.

    My tuner has a viper in the shop replacing the bent rods in it, they bent at 670hp with a Procharger, wait till you price the rods it really needs. lol don't know the whole story but took him 3 weeks to get the rods for it.

    Does it really take much work to get 600hp out of it n.a. damn all that work for little gains.

    Yes. A set of forged internals from ROE racing is like 3k just to get you over 6-700 rwhp. Ive been looking into some kits in the viper world and everyone wants to put the viper tax on everything even though its easy piping and pretty generic stuff.

    I mean you should easily be able to make enough power to bend the rods naturally aspirated....so why the turbo?

    After all this research i will for sure be forging the internals first. I say this because I don't want to grenade it by waiting for stock stuff to go. so ill do it right from the start. throw in a cam and then do the turbo kit.
