making room for a turbo. What size? Also, hiding electronics in different places???

    Hey all,
I'm in the process of wiring my 94 MkVIII 4V engine in my 63 Fairlane. I want to make room for a turbo potentially but there isn't much in there. I want to hide the wiring so I can get it all out of the way and make room for hot and cold pipes. That said, can I put the EDIS and the fan controller boxes under the dash or are they temperature sensitive items?

What size turbo would you guys say I can use efficiently without going into the engine for parts? I just want a simple bit of boost. Not looking for gobs of power. Maybe 75-100 extra hp or so.

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks for any help.

    Dave

T-70 should work fine just double check the compressor maps. It's on the smaller side.

I had a T70 setup on my 347 but never used it because I thought it was too small. For this 281, it might not be bad with a .96 or bigger turbine side. I may try that. Thanks!!!

Anyone have any input on the wiring? I think I'm going to put all the PCM, EDIS and fan controller under the dash to the left of the steering column and build the harness to suit.

    Thanks

seen you on the modular forums too. th t70 should be a close match. i have a gt45(basically the same thing with a 1.1ar exhaust) on a modular in a different car its a little slow for street spool time. i mounted the edis module on the firewall next to the brake booster. that "fan controller" is a pos and is not needed, 2 relays can replace it if you are not using A/C and a cel.

as for room, im not sure how much bigger the fairlane engine compartment is but the engine takes up all room in a falcon

I've been on this site for years now with my old Fox stuff. I finally got to see your vids. I love the car. Great motivator for me. I really wish I could find a decent 63 falcon in 4 door trim to match my Galaxie and Fairlane. It'd be set up very similar to yours. I'm thinking the T70 or a 72mm setup will be fine with the .81 or .96 AR turbine side. I'm not looking for track time. Just be able to get out of my own way and for the wow factor. I'm going to get it all together and running without the turbo idea first to make sure the wiring is all sound. If I can, I'd like to mount as much as I can out of sight for the look. I've done it on a few Fox bodies but never with this many modules and such. I think I'm going to make a plate under the dash with them mounted to it and go from there. Did you go with 75amp relays for the fan? I know startup amperage is insane with these fans. I've considered just using my old adjustable thermo with a couple that slides in the fins of the radiator but I think having the computer control it all works better for my intended uses. I'm interested to know your wiring schematic for the fans. Guess I need to look at that section in my EVTM. The room in these cars with the MII front end is still very limited. I'm considering cutting the drivers inner fender to match the battery mount of the passenger side to help with fluid storage locations. The turbo is the problem. It's tight.

I was thinking in the 80s range on the exhaust side too

if i kept notes ill have to find them, i do have the computer controling the fp, fan(single speed) and ac. it took a little thinking but got it working. the lack of the variable speed fp and fans will set the cel but can be turned off with a quarterhorse. there is a datalink between the ecm and the evtm, but the basic on/off fp out and fan out still work like any other ecm the evtm just varies output via datalink. it also houses the ac analog pressure inputs then sends simple on/off to the computer. i think it did this for a scale of redundancy.

I not sure why ppl keep saying the bigger exhaust housing... I have a 76mm and it had a .96 a/r to start and i switched to .81 because it was too laggy..
But i would go with a 70mm if your not looking for gobs of power

That's what I'm going to be in the market for when the time comes. I've been slow on the project lately prepping to retire and finish my MBA, modeling a bathroom and kids functions. I did ditch the VCRM and picked up some relays. Eventually I'll get back to it full speed.

Thanks for the support guys. Can't wait to have this beast running.
