Only on Fulton, that building is a customer of my brothers , Mach Industries , they make custom pipe and fittings , have the most bad ass auto Tig setup for welding pipe I've ever seen. They take 1" and up plate and roll it and weld it to make high dollar alloy pipe and forge there own fittings, does a lot of government work also, armed guard at the gate.

Test, can anybody tell me what the 2 tabs tacked on the end of the pipe bevel is for ?

 

Cut off after finish welding..... prevents the "sag", and ensures a good weld at the stopping point, or cold at starting point?

 

I know jack shit about welding, but my guess is something to do with either temp stabilizing before it gets to the pipe, or trying to prevent cutting of the edge of pipe on that machined surface.

 

Remnants of the truck belonging to one of the kids who works on the drilling rig I'm sitting on. Rear ended a tanker truck on the way to work a few months back, second guy in a month to do that. Both of them had to get cut out, both broken femurs, this kid busted up his one arm as well.

Concidering what the truck looks like I'd say he's lucky.
Too bad it wasn't rear ended, you could get a sweet LS swap!
The Xray is gnarly, but it looks clean, nothing too spiral and no chips and chunks anywhere. If he's lucky, and young, he'll probably come out of it just fine.

 

So you can end the weld? Then it would technically be uniform from end to end? Also they could technically get cut section to analyse?
